Python Developer - AI / LLM Platform

Ncounter is supporting a growing technology consultancy looking for an experienced Python Developer to take ownership of production AI and LLM platforms supporting secure, business-critical services.

This is a hands-on software engineering position, combining new development with responsibility for established production systems. You will work within a sizeable existing codebase, building Python services and APIs, integrating LLM capabilities and improving the security, reliability and maintainability of live platforms. Rather than replacing existing systems, you will be expected to understand them quickly and improve them safely over time.

Key responsibilities:

• Build and maintain production Python services and APIs, while improving existing components through structured refactoring

• Integrate LLM APIs and develop practical AI capabilities across live platforms

• Take ownership of production issues, testing, observability and ongoing platform reliability

• Strengthen application security, deployment practices and technical documentation

We are looking for:

• 5+ years of commercial Python development experience, ideally including FastAPI and strong asynchronous Python

• Strong PostgreSQL/SQL experience alongside SQLAlchemy or SQLModel

• Production experience integrating OpenAI, Azure OpenAI or comparable LLM APIs

• Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift, CI/CD and automated testing with pytest

• Experience supporting and improving large, established production codebases, with a strong understanding of secure software development

Experience with LangChain, RAG, vector databases, Azure, Entra ID, OAuth/OIDC, Redis, Terraform, Helm, Prometheus, Grafana or OpenTelemetry would be valuable but is not essential.

Current SC clearance, or recent SC clearance suitable for reinstatement, is required.

If you are a strong Python engineer who enjoys taking ownership of real production systems while developing practical AI capabilities, contact Ncounter to discuss the role in more detail.

What Is an AI Forward Deployed Engineer? The Fastest-Growing Job in AI for 2026

If you have been watching AI job boards over the past year, one title keeps surfacing again and again: the forward deployed engineer, or FDE. It has gone from a niche term known mainly to Palantir alumni to arguably the hottest role in the entire AI hiring market. Job postings for forward deployed engineers have exploded, salaries have climbed past levels most software engineers will ever see, and the biggest names in AI — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Salesforce, Databricks and Palantir — are all competing for the same small pool of talent. So what exactly is an AI forward deployed engineer, why has demand surged so dramatically, and how do you position yourself to land one of these roles? This guide breaks it all down for AI engineers, software engineers and data scientists looking at their next move.
