The Opportunity
As an Inventory & Leases Accountant, you will serve as a strategic contributor within our team, driving the
Finance Operations engine to deliver world-class month-end results. We are looking for a visionary who sees
beyond the ledger—someone eager to hunt down process improvements, champion continuous innovation,
and take pride in mentoring a high-performing team toward their full potential. The role offers a unique
opportunity to gain broad exposure and make a meaningful impact across key financial operations

Requirements

Accounting, Reporting and Analysis
Inventory
● Analysis of Ocado’s total spares stock, gaining assurance of existence and valuation
● Create IC recharges when spares are moved between sites
● Analysis and review of spare prices maintained in Oracle Fusion
● Analysis of Central Spares storage costs and allocating those costs to the relevant CFCs
● Process general ledger journal entries
● Balance sheet reconciliations
● Project journal creation and processing
● Analysis of system generated Inventory receipt accruals
● Process International Project costs and insure the costs are recorded in the correct ledger by creating
IC recharges
Leases
● The end-to-end Lease Accounting (IFRS 16), ensuring the lease accounting system is up to date
● Record IFRS 16-related lessor and lessee accounting entries in an accurate and timely manner and
managing the lease liability control account
● Variance analysis to Budget, understanding trends and building a Risk & Opps view of Depreciation
and Interest charges
● Prepare lease assets and liability notes and owned asset notes to the accounts
● Lease cashflow reporting of actuals and variances
● Prepare BS and P&L reconciliations to a high standard with key movements analysed, explained and
reconciled
● Comply with group accounting policy and practices
● Work according to general ledger close / period end close calendar timelines
Statutory and compliance activities
● Support the Half Year and Year End audit process (incl. providing inventory and lease-related
disclosures), ensuring that audit deliverables are met, queries are dealt with swiftly and appropriately
● Provide commentary on management account lines

Control environment and continuous improvement
● Embed a culture of controls within the team, responsible for operating effectiveness of all key
controls within the team’s processes and remediation of any control weaknesses
● Support the global process owner by continuously driving process efficiency, effectiveness and
compliance

Essential Criteria
● Financial qualification Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other
relevant field
● Knowledge of inventory accounting principles under IAS 2
● Understanding of lease principles under IFRS 16
● Experience in a fast-paced global environment
● Ability to complete work to a high standard whilst identifying opportunities for further
improvement
● Ability to set and achieve stretch goals prioritise tasks and work closely with colleagues
● Proactive and independent to identify the root cause of issues and understand end-to-end
processes and data flows in order to effect change
● Strong attention to detail; able to provide accurate and timely data/reporting
● Ability to build trusted relationships
