AI Software Engineer - Build What Comes Next

Up to £70,000 + bonus | Mostly remote | Bristol twice per month

Here's the opportunity: join an established software business at the very beginning of a major AI transformation-and help decide what gets built.

This isn't an AI lab role or a stream of disposable prototypes. You'll take ideas through to production, embedding useful AI capabilities into established software used by real customers.

You'll have the backing of a large international technology group, but the freedom and visibility of a close-knit R&D team. Your work will directly influence the products, architecture and future AI roadmap.

What you'll do

  • Build AI-powered features within existing C#/.NET products
  • Develop LLM solutions using RAG, agentic workflows and Azure AI
  • Take ideas from proof-of-concept through to production
  • Help shape technical decisions and the wider AI strategy
  • Improve the performance, reliability and cost of live AI systems

What we're looking for

You'll be a strongC#/.NET engineer who has moved beyond experimenting with AI and can demonstrate something you've genuinely delivered into production.

Experience withAzure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, RAG, Semantic Kernel, vector databases or Python-based AI tooling would be particularly valuable.

What's in it for you?

  • Up to £70,000 plus bonus
  • Mostly remote, with around two visits per month to the Bristol office-although you're welcome to work from the office more regularly if that suits you.
  • The opportunity to shape a new AI capability from day one
  • Real ownership and influence-not simply another development ticket
  • Perkbox, Cycle-to-Work scheme and 24/7 employee support
  • Sabbatical option after two years

If you want to build AI that makes it into the hands of customers-and have a genuine say in what the future looks like-we'd love to hear from you.

What Is an AI Forward Deployed Engineer? The Fastest-Growing Job in AI for 2026

If you have been watching AI job boards over the past year, one title keeps surfacing again and again: the forward deployed engineer, or FDE. It has gone from a niche term known mainly to Palantir alumni to arguably the hottest role in the entire AI hiring market. Job postings for forward deployed engineers have exploded, salaries have climbed past levels most software engineers will ever see, and the biggest names in AI — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Salesforce, Databricks and Palantir — are all competing for the same small pool of talent. So what exactly is an AI forward deployed engineer, why has demand surged so dramatically, and how do you position yourself to land one of these roles? This guide breaks it all down for AI engineers, software engineers and data scientists looking at their next move.
