The shift pattern for this position is Mon-Sun-24 hr service. Including night shift and weekend , PH working.

We are looking to recruit a confident, compassionate and knowledgeable perioperative practitioner with significant theatre experience for a Team Leader Charge Nurse Post post within Inpatient theatre at the RAH. The unit has 9 operating theatres and an 10 bedded recovery room. There is an expectation that postholder will be in charge out of hours which will include all emergences from the other specialities.

The postholder will be responsible for:

The day to day management for the general and colorectal theatres which also includes a Robotic service currently undertaken at the QEUH . The daily management of theatre and team ensuring that a high quality of clinical care is delivered to all patients intraoperatively. Using excellent leadership skills and clinical expertise they will provide advice, support, supervision and education to all members of staff working within their team.

Requirements/Skills:

Significant experience and knowledge of working within a theatre environment in a scrub role is required. Excellent communication and negotiation skills in order to manage conflicting pressures in a calm and professional manner. You also will be instrumental in assisting the Senior Charge Nurses in taking forward service improvements.

The successful candidate is required to demonstrate flexibility by working within a service which runs over a 7 day week. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be expected where necessary to engage in multi-site working within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde in order to achieve the needs of the service.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
