We work for clients such as the Office for National Statistics, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, Transport for London, and the Department for Energy and Net Zero. Our work feeds into vital national statistics such as the latest crime figures and the Consumer Prices Index. We also work for academic clients such as the Institute of Social and Economic Research at Essex University, running large-scale longitudinal studies, including Understanding Society, the largest longitudinal household panel of its kind in the world.Purpose of the role:The Senior Director for Data Analytics leads the data quality and analytics team in Population Studies, specialising in large quantitative social research studies in the UK. This ensures that our clients get the best possible data outputs in the most efficient way possible. They are also responsible for growing our data science capability and offer to clients. The Senior Director for Data Analytics is the key business interface for the development of Verian’s cutting-edge data infrastructure, ensuring that it delivers what the business needs. They also advise on data science, AI and data ethics and act as the relationship lead for our formal partnership with Faculty AI.Main Responsibilities:Lead and line manage the data quality and analytics team in Population Studies (currently 3 permanent members of staff and 2 interns)Lead the development of the data science and AI capability for Verian in the UKBe the relationship lead with Verian’s applied AI partner, Faculty AIWork with Faculty to continue to develop innovative ethical AI tools for use in the social research processLead the development of new data science products for clients such as the Context ModelIdentify new data science project opportunities and contribute technical content to new business bids that require data management, data science and AI specialist knowledgeAct as the interface between the research teams and Technology on the development of Verian’s new data infrastructure so that it is best in class for UK researchers and projectsLead or contribute to projects that include data science or AIAdvise colleagues globally on use of Data Science and AI and work closely with the UK Methods team (statisticians)Escalation point for any data quality concerns for Verian UK flagship projectsWho we are looking forIn addition to possessing the suitable skills and experience to deliver against the above responsibilities, to be successful you’ll also need to:Have experience of successfully leading data teams from data collection through to disseminationHave an innovative approach to delivering efficiency in the production of data outputs, ideally in a statistical or social research contextHave experience of leading data science/AI projects and teamsDemonstrate the ability to lead teams through substantial changeBe able to work with colleagues and senior leaders in Technology and Data Solutions to deliver future facing data infrastructureIt is desirable to have a track record of working on high profile, data outputs to time and qualityDoes this sound like you?
