Head of Networks (Power Systems)

The Networks and Innovation team is divided into three sections, each of which specialises in a particular area of consulting work: Data Science, Networks, and Innovation. A full-time Head of Networks with technical proficiency in power system planning and analysis and a firm grasp of the GB power system is what we are searching for. An accomplished power systems engineer with managerial experience who is eager to guide a developing group of driven engineers providing power systems services in the dynamic utility industry is a good fit for this position.
Responsibilities:
- Identify new business opportunities and areas for growth
- Maintain a healthy pipeline of work for the department
- Promote a collaborative and high-performing team environment within the department
- Creating and organising Framework agreements with important clients
- Recruiting and training to guarantee the department has the necessary skills to complete projects
- Leading, mentoring, and developing consultants within the department
- Staff development and line management
- Including this in the yearly business plan for the N&I team
- Sharing expertise and providing thought leadership
- Representing the division, team, and organisation at networking gatherings, conferences, and seminars
Qualifications:
• An electrical engineering degree, or a degree in another pertinent field
• More than eight years of experience in the regulated energy sector
• Previous experience working for a consulting firm
• Expertise in power systems analysis and network modelling
• Demonstrated experience managing and directing technical teams with more than ten members
• Overseeing sizable engineering initiatives
• A business understanding of consulting projects, which includes establishing and following project budgets, carefully examining and comprehending contractual commitments, and identifying and reducing commercial risks
• Prior experience in client-facing roles and company development
• The capacity to interact with clients and build enduring, mutually beneficial relationships
• Currently pursuing or has attained chartered status
