Software Engineer (.NET / React / AI)

Birmingham | Hybrid Working

Full time – Permanent

Salary: Up to £65,000

We’re looking for an experienced Full Stack Developer to join a growing in-house development team with a strong pipeline of new software to build.

This role is well suited to someone who enjoys starting with a blank canvas. You’ll be involved in taking new applications from initial idea through to working product, with plenty of scope to make decisions around how they’re designed, structured and developed.

There’s also a strong focus on modern AI-assisted development. We’re looking for someone already using tools such as Codex, Claude Code or Cursor extensively as part of their day-to-day workflow — not just for code suggestions, but to increase development capacity, solve problems faster and ultimately deliver more.

The business is rebuilding and modernising core systems, moving towards a more product-led approach and creating new applications from the ground up. This is a genuine greenfield opportunity where you’ll have the chance to influence technical direction, application architecture, development standards and how new products are built.

What you'll be doing

  • Designing and building new applications from scratch
  • Developing across .NET / C# and React / Next.js
  • Using AI development tools extensively to improve speed, quality and development capacity
  • Making technical and architectural decisions around new applications
  • Helping establish strong development standards and ways of working
  • Working directly with users and stakeholders to understand what needs to be built

What we're looking for

  • Strong commercial .NET / C# development experience
  • Solid React / Next.js capability
  • Strong experience using AI development tools such as Codex, Claude Code or Cursor
  • Evidence of using AI tooling to meaningfully augment your development skills and increase what you can deliver
  • Strong engineering judgement, including the ability to review and validate AI-assisted development
  • Confidence contributing to architecture, technical decisions and development standards
  • Someone who enjoys building software from the ground up and taking genuine ownership of their work

This isn't about using AI as a shortcut for good engineering. We're looking for a strong developer who understands how to use modern AI tooling effectively to become a more capable and productive engineer.

You’ll be joining a small, ambitious team where your technical judgement and ideas will have genuine influence over how software is built.

If you are interested in this opportunity and would like to hear more, please apply for the opportunity with an updated CV and contact information.

What Is an AI Forward Deployed Engineer? The Fastest-Growing Job in AI for 2026

If you have been watching AI job boards over the past year, one title keeps surfacing again and again: the forward deployed engineer, or FDE. It has gone from a niche term known mainly to Palantir alumni to arguably the hottest role in the entire AI hiring market. Job postings for forward deployed engineers have exploded, salaries have climbed past levels most software engineers will ever see, and the biggest names in AI — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Salesforce, Databricks and Palantir — are all competing for the same small pool of talent. So what exactly is an AI forward deployed engineer, why has demand surged so dramatically, and how do you position yourself to land one of these roles? This guide breaks it all down for AI engineers, software engineers and data scientists looking at their next move.
