Software Developer – AI & Business Systems

Permanent role | Harrow | Hybrid – 3-4 days in the Harrow office

£

A fantastic opportunity for a strong Software Developer to join a successful, established luxury travel business and take a key role in developing and improving its bespoke internal technology systems.

Working closely with Head of IT and other colleagues across the business, you will develop and enhance business-critical applications, while identifying opportunities to improve processes through software, automation and AI.

The role

  • Develop, maintain and enhance bespoke business applications and internal systems
  • Work across existing codebases as well as new development projects
  • Design and build practical software solutions around real business requirements
  • Work extensively with relational databases and SQL
  • Develop APIs, integrations and internal tools
  • Investigate technical issues, debug effectively and deliver robust solutions
  • Work directly with non-technical users to understand problems and translate them into effective technical solutions
  • Identify inefficient or repetitive processes and explore opportunities for automation
  • Use AI-assisted development tools to improve development efficiency and develop AI-enabled solutions where they add genuine value
  • Gradually take greater ownership of the company's technology platform and development projects

You

We are looking for a genuinely strong coder with solid commercial software development experience and excellent problem-solving ability.

You will ideally have:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline
  • Strong hands-on software development experience
  • Excellent programming fundamentals and analytical skills
  • Strong relational database and SQL experience
  • Experience developing real-world applications and working with existing codebases
  • Experience with APIs, integrations and software architecture
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to understand complex business requirements and turn them into practical technical solutions
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence working with non-technical colleagues
  • A naturally curious, commercially minded approach to technology

Technical skills

Experience withC# / .NET and SQL Server would be particularly useful, alongside some exposure toPython, JavaScript, web development, APIs, data processing or automation.

You don't need to tick every technical box. Strong development fundamentals, the ability to learn quickly and a willingness to understand the wider business are more important.

Experience usingChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot or similar AI development tools is also welcomed, although this is fundamentally a software development role for someone who can code, test and debug independently.

The opportunity

This is a particularly interesting role for a developer who wants to see the direct impact of their work.

You will be working with bespoke systems at the heart of a commercial business, with the opportunity to improve existing technology, introduce automation and AI, and help shape the future development of the company's internal platform.

What Is an AI Forward Deployed Engineer? The Fastest-Growing Job in AI for 2026

If you have been watching AI job boards over the past year, one title keeps surfacing again and again: the forward deployed engineer, or FDE. It has gone from a niche term known mainly to Palantir alumni to arguably the hottest role in the entire AI hiring market. Job postings for forward deployed engineers have exploded, salaries have climbed past levels most software engineers will ever see, and the biggest names in AI — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Salesforce, Databricks and Palantir — are all competing for the same small pool of talent. So what exactly is an AI forward deployed engineer, why has demand surged so dramatically, and how do you position yourself to land one of these roles? This guide breaks it all down for AI engineers, software engineers and data scientists looking at their next move.
