Due to continued growth, we're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join an innovative technology organisation developing AI-powered solutions. You'll be part of a collaborative engineering team, building scalable backend systems that support high-performance, cloud-native applications.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll design, build and maintain secure, scalable backend services and APIs that power AI-driven applications. Working closely with Product Managers, Frontend Engineers and Data Scientists, you'll develop cloud-native microservices, integrate AI/ML models into production, optimise databases, and ensure systems remain secure, reliable and performant.

You'll also contribute to architectural decisions, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, performance optimisation and the continual improvement of the platform.

• 8+ years' commercial backend development experience
• Strong Python development experience
• FastAPI, Flask or similar frameworks
• Microservices architecture
• REST APIs, gRPC or GraphQL
• AWS cloud services
• Docker and containerisation
• PostgreSQL, MySQL and MongoDB
• Git, GitHub Actions and CI/CD pipelines
• JWT, OAuth2 and OpenID Connect
• Performance optimisation and scalability
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills

• MLOps or AI/ML model deployment
• Kafka or AWS SQS
• Terraform or CloudFormation
• AWS Lambda and serverless architectures
• CloudWatch or Datadog
• Agile/Scrum
• AWS certifications
