Your new role
We are seeking a hands-on Data Architect to play a key role in the evolution of a modern enterprise data platform. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys both strategic architecture and getting close to the data, working alongside engineering teams to design scalable, business-focused solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Define and govern enterprise-wide data architecture standards, principles, and best practices.
- Design and maintain scalable data models supporting analytics, reporting, operational processes, and investment-focused initiatives.
- Provide architecture and database design guidance across a growing Microsoft-based data estate.
- Work closely with Data Engineers to deliver high-quality, scalable data solutions.
- Lead data modelling activities across strategic data platform and data consolidation programmes.
- Design solutions leveraging Microsoft Fabric and/or Databricks within a cloud-based architecture.
- Define best-practice approaches to data storage, including Lakehouse and Data Warehouse architectures.
- Establish robust data integration patterns using tools such as Azure Data Factory.
- Support programmes focused on standardising and consolidating data across multiple business domains.
- Partner with business stakeholders to translate requirements into practical and sustainable data solutions.
- Contribute to the organisation's wider data, cloud, and AI strategy.
What you'll need to succeed
- Proven experience in a Data Architect position within a complex enterprise environment.
- Previous background in Data Engineering, Data Modelling, or Database Development with a desire to remain technically hands-on.
- Strong expertise within the Microsoft data ecosystem, including SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, and related technologies.
- Experience designing enterprise-scale data platforms and architecture frameworks.
- Strong understanding of data modelling principles, dimensional modelling, and logical/physical database design.
- Deep knowledge of data warehousing, Lakehouse architectures, and modern data platform design.
- Experience delivering ETL/ELT solutions and integration architectures.
- Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and architecture best practices.
- Familiarity with Databricks and modern cloud-based analytics platforms.
- Exposure to investment management, asset management, pensions, or wider financial services data.
- Understanding of investment-related concepts such as holdings, transactions, valuations, securities, performance, benchmarks, or reference data.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Ability to bridge the gap between architecture, engineering, and business teams.
