Spectrum IT are supporting a Southampton client on a new opportunity for an experienced AI Business Analyst.

You'll be work between the business, data and technology teams and help identify opportunities where Artificial Intelligence can deliver measurable business value. You'll supporting initiatives across Generative AI, intelligent automation, analytics and machine learning. joining a growing tech function, you'll play a key role in delivering AI-enabled business transformation.

You'll partner with business stakeholders, technology teams, data specialists and third-party vendors to shape AI solutions from initial concept through to implementation and business adoption.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis & AI Use Case Development

  • Work proactively with business stakeholders to identify opportunities where AI, automation and analytics can improve business processes, decision making and operational efficiency.
  • Facilitate workshops, discovery sessions and stakeholder interviews to understand business challenges and define AI-enabled opportunities.
  • Translate business needs into clear functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Define AI-specific requirements including data inputs, expected outputs, controls, governance and appropriate levels of human oversight.
  • Develop business cases for AI initiatives, assessing feasibility, business value, costs, benefits and expected return on investment.
  • Support the prioritisation of AI initiatives based on business value, complexity, risk and organisational readiness.

Requirements Gathering & Solution Definition

  • Lead requirements gathering activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Produce high-quality business requirements, user stories, process maps, functional specifications and supporting documentation.
  • Define acceptance criteria and maintain full traceability between business requirements, solution design, testing and delivered outcomes.
  • Work closely with internal technology teams, data specialists and third-party suppliers to ensure business requirements are accurately interpreted and delivered.
  • Assess the impact of AI-enabled solutions on existing business processes, operating models, governance and user responsibilities.
  • Support options analysis and contribute towards the evaluation and selection of AI platforms, technologies and vendor solutions.

Data & AI Readiness

  • Assess whether business data is suitable to support AI initiatives, considering data availability, quality, structure and completeness.
  • Work alongside technical teams to define data requirements, data flows and governance standards.
  • Support data preparation, validation and quality assurance activities prior to AI implementation.
  • Ensure AI initiatives align with data protection legislation, information security policies, privacy requirements and wider regulatory obligations.
  • Promote best practice around responsible and effective use of business data within AI solutions.

Stakeholder Management & Business Change

  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across business functions, technology, data.
  • Lead workshops, working groups and decision-making sessions to drive consensus.
  • Produce clear documentation and reporting suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.
  • Support business change activities including impact assessments, communications planning and user adoption of AI-enabled processes.

Testing, Validation & Implementation

  • Produce test strategies and test plans aligned to business requirements.
  • Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including creation of test scenarios, execution support and defect management.
  • Validate AI-generated outputs from a business perspective, ensuring they are accurate.
  • Ensure complete traceability between requirements, testing and delivered functionality.
  • Support implementation activities and transition of solutions into Business-as-Usual operations.

Governance, Risk & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and manage risks associated with AI initiatives.
  • Support governance activities including documentation, approvals, audit requirements and project controls.
  • Ensure AI solutions comply with internal governance standards, information security policies, data protection legislation and responsible AI principles.
  • Contribute to the development of AI delivery standards, frameworks and best practice.
  • Share knowledge and provide guidance to junior Business Analysts and Subject Matter Experts involved in AI initiatives.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve business processes and maximise value from AI technologies.

Skills & Experience

  • At least 5 years' commercial experience as a Business Analyst delivering technology and business change projects.
  • Previous experience working on AI & digital transformation projects.
  • Proven experience delivering digital transformation, system implementation or business improvement programmes.
  • Strong understanding of Business Analysis methodologies, tools and best practice.
  • Good understanding of Artificial Intelligence concepts, including Generative AI, Machine Learning, intelligent automation and data-driven decision making.
  • Strong data literacy with experience analysing data quality, structures, governance and reporting requirements.
  • Experience working within a regulated environment such as Legal, Financial Services, Professional Services or similar.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience engaging senior business and technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
