About the role:

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic person with a strong background in Business case development to support the interface between our Data Scientists and WMP's various departments / functions, shaping insight requests for consideration by the lab.

With your substantial experience of requirements gathering you will be able to support departments to develop approaches for monitoring the outcomes of analytic insights and define metrics and monitoring for communicating the results and value realisation of these analytic outcomes.

A confident communicator with excellent report writing and presentation skills and evidence of a clear understanding of ethics relating to the use of data within law enforcement, you will ensure that detailed business cases are developed in preparation for presentation to the multi-disciplinary Ethics committee.

Key Responsibilities:

Gather business requirements for analytics assignments.Develop detailed business cases for priority analytics projects, in preparation for presentation to the multi-disciplinary Ethics committee.Support business stakeholders in defining and reviewing requirements and use cases whilst capturing key assumptions and enhancing their understanding of the benefits of analytic opportunities.Contribute to the demand management and prioritisation of the analytics project portfolio at a strategic, operational and tactical level.Support demand management, through reviewing and triaging incoming analytics requests against the force priorities picture and identify those not relevant for the Data Analytics Lab, liaising with line managers to divert, where relevant, to other WMP functions.Work with technical teams to capture key assumptions around technical complexity and cost.In conjunction with the Principal Data Scientist, liaise between data scientists, data engineers and the business to ensure solutions meet business requirements and support alignment between model outputs / visualisation and original business issue / question.Jointly with the originating business unit, develop approaches for monitoring outcomes of analytic insights (e.g. through live trials etc.) and define metrics / KPIs, liaising with the Principal Data Scientist to ensure the feasibility of these.Track, monitor and communicate results and value realisation of analytic outcomes once implemented.Support the business in developing Action Plans to set out insight-led actions and decisions.Prepare contextual briefs for WMP's Ethics Committee.Prepare Data Protection Impact Assessments to support commissioning briefs.Provide the link between the Corporate Development department and IT and D for data integration projects affecting Insight search and Business Insight.Knowledge and Experience:

Hours and location

The hours of work are 08.00 - 16.00 (flexi scheme A) Mon - Fri.Some working outside of normal officer hours may be needed and some attendance at evening meetings. The role is based in Lloyd House.

Vetting

Successful applicants will be required to pass Management Vetting and Security Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.

Medical

Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test.
