We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this position is Monday to Friday. 

This is a Fixed Term post for 8.4 months.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in the Orthopaedic Unit at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, working with Trauma and Elective patients. This is newly reconfigured full-time post offering opportunities to develop clinical and non-clinical skills. The Occupational Therapy staff work very closely with physiotherapy and MDT colleagues to provide comprehensive, patient-centred interventions. The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner in managing a complex clinical caseload, and as an effective and efficient partner in the multi-disciplinary team. They will share responsibility for day to day operational issues within the Occupational Therapy Team.

They will be involved in:

service improvement staff development supervision clinical effectiveness student education

Applicants must be able to demonstrate sound clinical reasoning and core Occupational Therapy skills and be able to apply these in treatment of Orthopaedic patients. They will be able to prioritise and work in a busy and fast-paced environment and demonstrate a self-motivating and dynamic approach. The successful candidate will have a diploma/degree in Occupational Therapy and a minimum of 3 years post graduate experience. The post required PVG scheme membership/Disclosure Scotland check and HCPC registration.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
