I’m partnering with a growing life sciences organisation that is on a mission to transform protein research through the development of cutting-edge solutions designed to simplify laboratory workflows. Their innovative product is a compact benchtop solution aimed at accelerating drug discovery and biomolecule production, ensuring that future medicines are both safe and effective.

This dynamic, fast-paced company operates at the intersection of biotechnology and engineering, with a collaborative culture that encourages idea-sharing and innovation. Backed by leading investors in the biopharma sector, the organisation is now expanding its commercial team and looking to establish a dedicated marketing function to increase brand visibility and drive sales growth.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Marketing Manager to build and lead the company's marketing strategy from the ground up. As the first hire in their new marketing department, you’ll have full ownership of the marketing function, responsible for developing a comprehensive marketing plan to increase brand awareness and generate Marketing Qualified Leads (MQLs) to support the commercial team.

This position offers significant growth potential, with the opportunity to scale the marketing team over time. Based in Cambridge, UK, the role will involve international travel to support global initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive marketing strategy to raise brand awareness and generate MQLs.
  • Execute marketing campaigns across multiple channels, both hands-on and through external agencies.
  • Manage the company’s social media channels to ensure a strong digital presence.
  • Create and oversee content, including whitepapers, blogs, videos, and webinars.
  • Conduct data-driven analysis of marketing performance to continuously improve campaigns.
  • Work closely with sales and leadership teams to align marketing efforts with commercial goals.

About You

We are looking for a proactive and hands-on marketing professional with a passion for life sciences and a track record of delivering impactful campaigns. The ideal candidate will have experience working in life sciences marketing and be comfortable managing internal and external resources.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in life science marketing.
  • Minimum MSc in biology, biochemistry, or related life science field (PhD preferred).
  • Proven success in planning, executing, and analysing marketing campaigns.
  • Experience with digital marketing, including SEO and social media management.
  • Familiarity with marketing tools such as Hubspot or similar platforms.
  • Ability to manage agencies and collaborate across internal teams.
  • Willing to travel 25% across the UK and Europe to support marketing initiatives.

What’s on Offer

  • Join a fast-growing, innovative company with a dynamic, supportive team.
  • Build the marketing function from scratch and take ownership of strategy and execution.
  • Work on cutting-edge technologies at the intersection of biology, engineering, and data science.
  • Share option scheme.
  • Competitive base salary

Start Date

The position is available from January 2025.

Location

The role is on-site in Cambridge, UK, requiring at least 4 days per week in the office.
