Quality Improvement Director (QID), Vaccines

This role can be based in strategic GSK locations across the UK, Europe, US and other global locations on a case-by-case basis.  

The Quality Improvement Director works with the VP of their business unit to change the business and facilitate transformation. This includes leading Ambition 2030, driving quality improvement plan (QIP), and implementing the quality plan. This role will ensure the delivery of strategic programs, partner with the business to deliver continuous improvement (CI), create desired CI culture and build GPS capability.

In this role you will:

  • Lead the quality plan deployment and ensure that teams and activities are aligned to deliver 2030 ambition with functional and supply chain goals – particularly with a focus on transforming how we work. 
  • Manage and implement multiple, large and complex projects to deliver on the quality improvement plan (QIP) 
  • Articulate and communicate GPS vision and ensure the organisation/ sites are fully aligned to deliver business improvement using GPS Standards including benefits realization and tracking. 
  • Support and coach on DMAIC, orange & green belt and use of GPS tools. 
  • Coach and mentor employees across the aligned organisation to drive a Continuous Improvement mindset and to drive capability around GPS basics. Ensure that systems and tools are in place to support continuous improvement culture.  
  • Drive a Continuous Improvement culture, supporting teams to improve processes, drive value and create cost savings without compromising compliance or quality.  
  • Network with other champions across both medicines and vaccines to exchange learning and good practice to ensure consistency and identify opportunities for improvement.  
  • Create, measure and consistently sustain culture changes to assist quality in achieving its longer-term strategy.

Required qualifications and skills:

  • Degree qualified in scientific or engineering discipline or able to demonstrate equivalent level of knowledge
  • Considerable Quality experience in pharma industry or process deveopment environment (manufacturing, quality control, quality assurance, distribution, R&D, external supply including GDP)
  • Demonstrated experience managing and improving quality systems, including the project management elements.
  • Proven experience interfacing and influencing senior Global Leadership team stakeholders
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Proven influence and ability to create impact in the organsation/BU
  • Experince across continous improvement/operational execellence/GPS
  • Ability to lead cross functional project and/or matrix teams to an aligned strategy.
  • Up to 25% travel

Preferred qualifications and skills:

  • BA/BS or Masters Degree
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact/influence/negotiate effectively at all levels of management and peers.
  • Deep knowledge and experience in operational excellence / continuous improvement techniques and deployment – with Master Black Belt / Black Belt / Green belt training·
