About Us: NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde is dedicated to providing comprehensive care and support for individuals affected by cancer. Our multidisciplinary team focuses on enhancing patients' quality of life through innovative programs that address their physical, emotional, and social needs. We are currently seeking a compassionate and skilled Cancer Prehabilitation Practitioner to join our team for a unique opportunity within NHS Scotland.
Role Overview: As a Cancer Prehabilitation Practitioner, you will work alongside the multidisciplinary team to prepare patients for their cancer treatment journey and follow up their progress. You will assess patients’ needs, assist with delivery of and adaptation of tailored prehabilitation plans, and provide guidance and support to help patients optimise their physical and mental well-being prior to and during treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ physical, emotional, and nutritional needs. Work with experts to develop and deliver individualised prehabilitation plans in collaboration with the wider healthcare team. Implement exercise, nutrition, and psychosocial support interventions. Educate patients and families about the benefits of prehabilitation and self-management strategies. Monitor and evaluate patient progress, making necessary adjustments to plans. Collaborate with oncologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to patient care. Stay current with research and best practices in cancer prehabilitation.
Qualifications:
Degree in a relevant field (e.g. Nutrition, Psychology, Exercise Science). Relevant certification in cancer care or prehabilitation (preferred) (opportunity exists to complete this as part of the professional development of the role). Experience working with cancer patients or in a healthcare setting. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Passion for improving patient outcomes and quality of life.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.
