An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Operational Support Manager to join our team in Community and Health Social Care Services in Barking and Dagenham.

This role will support physical health community services provided within Barking and Dagenham as directed by the Head of Service.

The role will provide line management to a team of administrative staff.

This successful candidate should possess excellent communication skills and be able to work autonomously as well as working within a team.

Main duties of the job

To provide support to the Head of Service in service priorities maintaining an awareness of the diary and brought forward system. Arranging appointments as requested.

To provide where required representation on appropriate committees/working groups on behalf of service.

To act as point of reference for internal and external queries, staff queries, patient complaints ensuring calls are dealt with to a high professional standard and communicated appropriately in a timely manner.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff). 

High Cost Area Supplement - London

This post attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,551 and a maximum payment of £5,735 per annum pro rata).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Design and manage the operation of specific complex information and monitoring systems, ensuring that these systems are utilised effectively by the Community Health & Social Care Services so that they become embedded, routine and reliable.

Work in partnership with other directorates, external NHS organisations, local authorities and other organisations to achieve integrated information where appropriate. This will require pro-active, self-directed work with outside agencies.

Undertake QI project work as directed by the Head of Service and hold delegated responsibility for expenditure against the CHSCS B&D budget and any related project budget. Involving preparing plans, working to deadlines, implementing action, monitoring and reporting on progress of delivery.

Undertake audits as directed by the Head of Service.

Overseeing that an effective and courteous administration service is provided ensuring that the highest standards of customer care are adhered to when dealing with service users.
