Head of Project Management Framework (PMF)

This role will preferably be based at GSK HQ, UK but can be based at other strategic locations on a case by case basis.

The Head of Project Management Framework is accountable for the continuous development, training and required changes of the capital projects delivery methodology (the ‘Project Management Framework’ or PMF), and the provision of such across all projects delivered for GSK.

The PMF is a standardised approach to project delivery which is widely recognised as the fundamental building block of effective project delivery building on best practice from external bodies to ensure that we have the right tools to provide GSK & delivery partners with the best possible project outcomes across the execution of GSK’s billion-pound capital portfolio.

The implementation and direction of capital project methodology is made available throughout the company and meets the requirements in each of the countries and territories in which we work.

The job holder will also provide and maintain a centre of excellence (CoE) for project practitioners to ensure continuous improvement and scalability of the PMF gathering feedback from different functional areas ensuring practices and tools for successful execution. .

This will meet the business requirements allowing for efficient project execution aligning with both internal and external requirements.

Improvements identified will be taken to the cross-company PMF Review Board which this role will chair.

The role holder will have the opportunity to shape the strategy of the PMF across Global Capital Projects at GSK.

In this role you will:

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) and owner of the PMF, responsible for the development, communication, and continuous improvements of the PMF procedures.
  • Leadership and training of the PMF for all staff engaged in capital projects providing expert support and guidance to persons throughout the GSK community of Engineering.
  • Maintain and engage with leading Project Management & Capital Delivery providers globally to ensure we build on best practice and have access to effective partners.
  • Development of the capability, processes and tools to ensure that we deliver all capital projects in an efficient and compliant manner.
  • Ownership & Standardization: Define, implement, and maintain global standards, methodologies, and best practices for capital project delivery, ensuring alignment across regions and business units.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify inefficiencies and drive process improvements through data analysis, stakeholder and practitioners feedback, including but not limited to best practice benchmarking to enhance project outcomes (time, cost, quality).
  • Governance & Compliance: Ensure governance frameworks contained within the PMF adhere to internal policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.

Basic Qualifications & Skills:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • BSc, in a related discipline such as science, engineering or project management.
  • Considerable experience in the delivery of high-tech life science projects in multiple geographies
  • Broad experience spent in the capital project execution.
  • Experience of different geographies, cultures and working practice
  • Project experience through time spent delivering capital projects on a live manufacturing siteStrong stakeholder management and influencing capabilities
  • Able to travel 25% of time

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • MSc or PhD or other Chartered / Professional Qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Excellent management, communication and interpersonal skills, with comfort cooperating with individuals internally and externally at all organisational levels.
  • Experience setting goals and driving results, defining priorities, managing and influencing individual and team performance.
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments and delivery of the GSK GCS strategy without direction.
  • Experience identifying and resolving problems.
  • Ability to effectively present information and ideas formally and informally, verbally and in writing to others in a manner that facilitates understanding.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach in order to support global sites at short notice
