An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior leadership role of Head of IT Operations within the eHealth Directorate. This is a Board-wide role, reporting to the Director of Digital Services and working as a member of the eHealth Senior Management Team. This is an excellent opportunity to lead and deliver the Board’s Digital Strategy and day to day running of all infrastructure and operational services.
The role offers a unique and rewarding career, working closely with health care professionals, you will be responsible for the overall IT, cyber security and compliance and Telecommunication services to NHSGGC including the delivery of the underpinning technical infrastructure and applications to support the health and corporate directorates across NHSGGC to agreed KPI’s and SLA’s. The Department has circa 260 staff working across acute sites (including the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre) as well as eHealth IT and Telecommunications offices. The post involves working across all clinical specialties as well as with other NHS Scotland Boards and other key internal and external stakeholders.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate significant experience in the management of IT Operations, including skills in staff management & development, financial management plus experience of developing and implementing strategic change. Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
The Head of IT Operations role is crucial to driving service transformation, ensuring innovative technology solutions align with patient-centred care and operational excellence. By fostering a culture of inclusion, the post holder will champion diverse perspectives to enhance digital advancements and improve healthcare delivery across NHSGGC.
You should be qualified to Degree level and possess relevant demonstrable management experience working at a senior level within the NHS.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
