ABOUT ZENOBE
Our goal is to make clean power accessible, to accelerate the shift to zero carbon power and transport.
We’re building and operating the world’s most sophisticated battery systems to enable the uptake of more renewable power and accelerating fleet electrification, de-risking the transition to zero-emission transport at scale. We’ve been consistently innovative since we were founded in 2017, achieving major industry firsts and using proprietary software and data analysis to optimise operational performance for our customers. At the end of their life, we repurpose electric vehicle batteries to provide clean power at depots, on construction sites and film sets.
Today we have 730 MW of grid scale battery storage operational and under construction and are the largest owner and operator of EV buses in the UK, Australia and New Zealand, supporting over 1,000 electric vehicles worldwide. In our first five years we have raised nearly £1.8 billion in funding and have expanded into other markets such as the US. Our rapidly growing company is looking for highly talented and motivated people to join us.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We are hiring for a talented Energy Modelling and Data Expert focusing on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to join our Network Infrastructure unit within the broader Commercial Analytics group. The candidate will be part of a team aimed at providing data-driven insights to seize business opportunities in large-scale BESS projects and extract the best possible value from Zenobē’s assets.
The Network Infrastructure Analytics unit supports the company’s business development team by building in-house knowledge and modelling capability of BESS systems. The role will involve building and developing market and operational data pipelines, developing in-house numerical models for BESS trading revenue forecasts and deploying them to suitable cloud infrastructure.
The successful candidate will work closely with the EV Fleet Analytics and Revenue Optimisation teams, ensuring insights are shared between different parts of the Commercial Analytics business.
This is a great opportunity for a candidate with strong numerical and computational skills to develop a deep knowledge of electricity markets and BESS technology from Zenobē’s unique standpoint of experienced large-scale BESS operator and developer.
The position is open to in-office, hybrid or remote working. In-office and hybrid successful candidates will be based out of our central London headquarters or our Glasgow office. For remote working, a minimum of two days in either office per month will be required, however flexible arrangements can be agreed.
A TASTE OF THE DAY TO DAY
You will contribute to developing in-house models for BESS revenue forecasting, and adapting them to new markets, as well as their underlying data pipeline and deployment infrastructure.
A sample of the duties for the role include:
- Drive innovation in our numerical modelling and data analysis in-house offering such as our energy market revenue optimisation models or our market data collection and analysis tooling
- Responsible for how our models exist and interface within the wider Zenobe tech stack, ensuring alignment with other software, data platforms and users.
- Champion software development good practices, produce high quality documentation and grow skills within the team.
- Contribute to developing new models to simulate the operation and energy trading of BESS projects, both in the UK and new markets.
- Improve existing models (e.g., introducing new revenue streams and market structures to existing trading models).
- Design and deploy pipelines for market data, revenue data from our operational assets and numerical simulation data.
- Collaborate with software and data engineers in a product team.
Health and Safety
- Actively contribute to Zenobe's commitment to health and safety, wellbeing and sustainability by; integrating these principles into daily responsibilities, ensuring a safe and supportive work environment, promoting both the physical and mental health of self and colleagues, and adopting sustainable and energy-efficient practices to minimize environmental impact. By doing so, each employee at Zenobe plays a vital role in fostering a culture that prioritises overall safety, holistic wellbeing, environmental sustainability in our business operations.
