Job Description
To direct best practice in building physics and Design for Performance projects throughout the business, we are now looking for an enthusiastic and suitably experienced Associate to lead our local building physics team.
We have an ever-increasing portfolio of clients looking to better understand how to make the most of their buildings in operation and we are looking for talented individuals with experience of detailed HVAC modelling and delivering NABERS UK assessments.
Working as part of a national team, you will be expected to take a key role in driving best practice in building physics and building modelling throughout the business, to mentor and assist with the development of engineers across the UK in building performance modelling and building physics, and to promote Ramboll’s Building Physics capability in the local market.

Your key attributes and responsibilities will be:
- Take a key role in driving best practice in building physics and building modelling throughout the business
- Promote Ramboll’s Building Physics capability in the local market, winning and delivering projects profitably and to the satisfaction of our clients
- Mentor and assist with the development of engineers across the UK in building performance modelling and building physics
- Experience in Design for Performance and Data Science
- Ideally accredited as a NABERS UK Assessor or having prepared NABERS Design for Performance assessments
- Take a key role in driving best practice in building physics and building modelling throughout the business, delivering research and development tasks to enhance knowledge
- Check and quality assure the work of others in all technical aspects of building performance modelling
- Take ownership of the day-to-day running of projects, providing technical input and managing resource effectively, as well as being a key contact for the design team
- Lead design team meetings and workshops related to energy strategies, operational energy performance, and Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards.
- Prepare fees, scopes and bid material
- Produce energy strategies for planning applications (including GLA), carrying out Part L compliance assessments using IES or SAP
- Stay up to speed in all relevant regulation and educate both our internal teams and our clients on the requirements for current and future legislation

- Being a qualified Engineer having a proven and demonstrable track record in their discipline
- To have achieved or working towards a submission for IEng or CEng status
- Proven experience in all aspects of building physics, including building energy modelling and compliance analysis
- Experience in detailed HVAC modelling
- Have a good knowledge of passive design, LZC technologies and ‘net zero’, and use this to influence all aspects of building design
- A high level of well-rounded knowledge of planning, sustainability and green metrics in the building industry (e.g. London Plan, BREEAM, WELL, etc.).
- Qualified Level 5 EPC energy assessor, SAP assessor and/or NABERS UK Assessor
- Have an interest in or experience using digital and parametric design tools. We seek engineers that fit with our culture and have an interest or experience in working digitally by coding, working in IESVE/Honeybee /Grasshopper/Phyton
- Demonstrate good attention to detail and show pride in the work produced
- Have an ability to present your work succinctly to others, to inspire the confidence of design teams and clients, and then use this to strengthen internal and external relationships
