As the Director of Data Science, you will play a pivotal role in delivering growth for Kantar Profiles, the worlds largest audience network. You will lead a dedicated team of data scientists, data engineers, and data analysts to create and deliver innovative data products and solutions that use our access to 170m+ people in over 100 global markets. You will work closely with technology and engineering and across Kantar Profiles and the larger Kantar organisation to create alignment through data and accelerate our growth through the strategic application of data. You will also develop a data-driven culture and champion the growth of machine learning and AI powered service and solution offerings.
This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious and experienced data leader, well versed in commercialising data products, to help build out a new generation of products and solidify key competitive differentiators. You will also have the opportunity to influence the direction and vision of Kantar Profiles, as well as contribute to the overall success of Kantar, the worlds leading data, insights, and consulting company.
What you’ll be doing
- Innovate through the application of data: Work in collaboration with technology and product development teams to establish a data science foundation to drive product success.
- Leading the data science team, including all associated people activities.
- Support the creation and curation of a central data repository to feed models and business intelligence tools.
- Identify and standardise data science tools and methods that support Kantar Profiles production platforms.
- Provide guidance for the upskilling of stakeholders on data science and data engineering best practices and principles.
- Guide the creation and deployment of machine learning/AI applications and other modelling techniques for enhancing product delivery.
- Partner with engineering and operations to support the implementation of ML models.
- Work with the broader leadership team to develop a data driven culture.
- Drive data-oriented decision making: Guide our data analysts and business intelligence function to enable data-driven insights and forecasting.
- Understand Kantar Profiles business model, identify strategic insights, inform leadership, and recommend execution plans against insights.
- Work with operations stakeholders to empower them to have full visibility and accountability into the performance of client work.
- Work with product stakeholders to ensure that product and platform development is data driven and links to business success.
- Collaborate with wider Kantar stakeholders on common metrics for assessing business performance.
The skills & experience needed as the Director of Data Science
- Leadership:Experience leading a data science team.
- Product Management:Background in managing data-related products or teams.
- Hands-on Data Skills:Proficiency in advanced data analysis and statistical methods, machine learning, and AI.
Technical Skills:
- Statistical Proficiency:Statistical techniques for complex data analysis.
- Machine Learning:Expertise in applying ML and AI to solve real-world problems.
- Data Visualization:Ability to present insights effectively using tools like Tableau and PowerBI.
Programming & Software Engineering:
- Coding Knowledge:Familiarity with programming languages and data science applications.
- Best Practices:Understanding of software development, version control (e.g., Git), and code review.
- Libraries & Frameworks:Experience with data science libraries such as pandas and NumPy.
- Big Data Technologies:Knowledge of Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka.
- Database Management:Experience with relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra) databases.
- Data Pipelines:Understanding of ETL processes and data integration.
- Data Platforms:Experience in architecting data and business intelligence platforms.
- ML Model Deployment:Experience implementing and optimizing ML models in production.
- Web Architecture:Understanding of scalable web platforms for deploying data science applications.
Soft Skills:
- Communication:Excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration and influencing.
- Adaptability:Ability to manage multiple priorities, with a strong bias for action.
