Location: London, Hybrid 

We’re thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for a Data Engineer to join one of our customer-facing tribes and play a pivotal role in Gousto’s data-driven journey. As a Tribe Data Platform Engineer, you’ll work across all squads within your tribe, ensuring analysts, data scientists, and other stakeholders have seamless access to high-quality data at scale to support model building, dashboards, and analytics. Embedded in the heart of our operations, this role is uniquely positioned to directly influence key business initiatives, solving meaningful challenges and driving our success.

The Tribe Data Platform Engineer will work on a variety of projects and challenges within their role. This covers everything from working with greenfield data ingestion pipelines to ML Ops to delivering data engineering best practices to the wider data function that sits within the tribes. This is also a great opportunity to get involved with our Experimentation,

Simulations, Forecasting & Customer Experience / Recommendations projects. If you’re excited to empower teams with actionable data and help shape the future of Data at Gousto, this is the role for you!

Core Responsibilites 

  • Collaborate with software engineers to adopt and embed data engineering best practices within the tribe, aligning with standards developed by the wider data engineering team.
  • Designing and implement new data pipelines and services to meet the evolving needs of the business.
  • Continuously improve and optimise existing data engineering pipelines and services for enhanced performance and reliability.
  • Applying MLOps best practices to support the development and deployment of robust data science products.
  • Champion data quality by creating processes and systems that ensure high data integrity and reliability.

Who you are

  • Good experience in a data engineering or data platform engineer role, with a strong understanding of distributed computing systems, ideally using Spark or PySpark.
  • You have hands-on experience with a variety of analytics-based services across modern cloud technologies, particularly AWS.
  • You are fluent in Python and SQL, with a solid grasp of data processing and manipulation.
  • You have experience working with Databricks (or similar modern data warehouses).
  • You have experience administering AWS services using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform (experience with other tools is also valued).
  • You are familiar with modern data deployments, version control, CI/CD tooling, and testing frameworks.
  • You possess excellent communication skills, able to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to both team members and stakeholders.
  • You have the ability to understand stakeholder requirements and translate these into effective data services.
  • You are passionate about data, with a keen attention to detail, a strong problem-solving mindset, and a positive, collaborative attitude.
  • You have experience working closely with Data Scientists to understand and deliver data requirements.
  • You have experience deploying and monitoring machine learning algorithms in production.
  • Exposure to any of the following would be beneficial, but not essential: Data Mesh, Spark streaming, Experimentation.
