An exciting opportunity has emerged for a Paediatric Nurse to join the Paediatric Stoma, Gastrostomy and Rectal Irrigation Service as a band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist. 20% of your working week will include back to the floor working within a clinical area which can be arranged with your team leader. Your primary responsibility will be providing comprehensive holistic assessment, care and support of infants, children and young people with complex Colorectal needs within all wards and departments in the Women and Children's directorate, and within the community setting.
Our vision will focus on the avoidance of hospital admissions and early facilitated discharge of patients who have a gastrostomy or complex colorectal needs. You will support patients at home and within the acute setting prioritising safety and professionalism grounded in evidence based practice.
We are seeking an experienced nurse who will embrace this dynamic opportunity. The post holder should possess knowledge of the management of patients with complex care needs, including the care of gastrostomy devices, stoma care and a knowledge of colorectal care. They will be required to demonstrate the ability to work autonomously, and as part of a team. This will involve working across professional and organisational boundaries in partnership with other acute and community care nursing and medical staff, allied health professionals and senior management teams. The applicant should possess the ability to prioritise fluctuating workloads, remain focused, and be flexible in an extremely busy environment.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
