NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included. 

This is a fulltime, permanent post of 37 hours per week, with a shift pattern of Monday to Friday (8am-4pm).

You will be based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

UK NMC Registration is required.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Endocrinology Nurse Specialist Nurse at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow.
The post holder will be part of a forward thinking, dynamic team providing support, care and education to patients with endocrine conditions. You will be a registered nurse who will ideally have acquired specialised Endocrine knowledge and have current experience in the management of various aspects of Endocrine conditions and have the knowledge and skill set to competently preform the necessary technical/invasive/ physical aspects of care, including IV drug administration, venepuncture & cannulation.
You will act as a resource providing expert advice and training, facilitating an immediate point of contact for urgent patient consultation. You will plan efficient outpatient care, in patient reviews and independent follow up to facilitate patient centred care and admission avoidance. You will be responsible for consultancy, teaching, audit, research, participate in service development in conjunction with the Endocrine team lead/wider team and maintain service objective to meet the changing demands of delivering specialised Endocrinology care across South/South West & GGC as required.
You will work autonomously within the nursing, medical and multi-professional team; consult in nurse led clinics whilst ensuing optimum care is maintained. It is essential that you possess a high level of interpersonal and confident communication skills to manage and support this specific client group.
The post holder will also engage with various teams within primary care and Secondary care including hospital clinicians and GPs and maintain excellent clinical links between the services, whilst upholding confidentiality at all times.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
