ASSISTANT GENERAL COUNSEL – TECHNOLOGY, DATA PROTECTION AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Role Overview:


Morgan Philips Specialist Recruitment is representing a world-leading professional services firm seeking an Assistant General Counsel to join their in-house legal team. The ideal candidate is an experienced commercial lawyer specializing in technology, data privacy, data protection, and AI. The successful candidate will provide practical, business-focused legal advice to the company's global operations.


Key Accountabilities:



  • Provide legal support on various legal and regulatory matters for a global professional services organization.
  • Advise on technology, data privacy, data protection, AI, and related issues, supporting day-to-day commercial and regulatory legal matters.
  • Assist in managing compliance with relevant laws and regulations across jurisdictions and within network policies.
  • Support Technology and Risk Management teams with legal expertise.
  • Develop and implement governance policies, procedures, and playbooks.
  • Review and advise on new services, solutions, and associated legal and regulatory issues.
  • Manage external legal counsel across jurisdictions efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Provide practical, risk-aware legal advice aligning with business objectives.
  • Create presentations and articles on legal topics.
  • Mentor and support junior team members.


About You:



  • UK-qualified lawyer (or equivalent outside the UK) with significant experience at a major law firm or relevant in-house experience.
  • Strong legal skills with the ability to handle complex legal/regulatory issues.
  • Strategic risk management skills with quick issue identification and mitigation recommendations.
  • Proficiency in negotiating, drafting, and reviewing commercial agreements across jurisdictions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on complex files.
  • Capable of balancing legal risks with business growth needs in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and excellent in communication and organization skills.
