Job overview

Are you interested in working with individuals to improve their balance and minimise their risk of falls? An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dedicated person to be part of the community Falls Strength and Balance exercise service across Basildon and Brentwood localities. This therapy-led service provides strength and balance exercise programmes and groups for those at risk of falls within the community.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an individual who has
- Relevant experience in a healthcare setting and base level of theoretic knowledge
- Knowledge of patient/client conditions relevant to the community setting
- Ability to work under own direction
- Able to travel by their own car for work purposes. 

Working for our organisation

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High Cost Area Supplement – Fringe

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £1,258 and a maximum payment of £2,122 per annum pro rata).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The main responsibilities of the post:
• Be responsible for a delegated caseload, waiting list and carrying out interventions as per service requirements.
• Implement, evaluate and modify intervention, as directed.
• Measure patients for equipment and fit and adjust equipment as directed by a therapist

NVQ level 2 or equivalent standard of literacy and numeracy

Otago programme Instructor/ Postural stability programme instructor
