Introduction: Ocado Technology is changing the way the world shops using advanced Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics, Big Data, Cloud and IoT. About the Role As a Robot Pilot, you will be at the heart of our mission to make warehouse robots smarter and more efficient. This is not a technical engineering role; instead, you will be working directly with our advanced products to show them how to move. Using Virtual Reality (VR) tools, you will guide and "teach" robots how to pick up and move items with the same care and speed as a human.

In this hands-on role, you will help us build the data that makes our AI smarter. You will spend your time using VR equipment to perform tasks that the robots will then learn from, while also reviewing and labelling data to ensure our systems are as accurate as possible. If you enjoy using new technology and want to see your work directly improve how a robot behaves in the real world, this is a fantastic opportunity to join our Sofia team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate VR controls to train and guide robots in performing complex tasks with high accuracy.
  • Conduct offline annotation of training data to improve and refine AI algorithms.
  • Drive continuous improvement in robotic dexterity and efficiency through consistent monitoring.
  • Collaborate closely with the engineering team to test and utilise new automation tools.
  • Ensure precision and speed in robot guidance to meet warehouse automation standards.
  • Share insights and progress with team members to contribute to scalable performance.
  • Maintain high quality in data tasks to ensure minimal errors in machine learning models.
  • Adapt to evolving technology and processes as robotic capabilities expand.
  • Manage and prioritise tasks effectively within a fast-paced technical environment.
  • Support the development of a robot picker through large-scale data collection.

What We’re Looking ForEssential

  • Strong eye-hand coordination to accurately control VR tools and guide robotic tasks.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills to handle tasks in a fast-paced setting.
  • Basic English proficiency with the ability to understand and communicate instructions.
  • High level of attention to detail for precise robot guidance and data annotation.
  • Eagerness to work in an office environment and engage in hands-on collaboration.
  • Adaptability and a willingness to learn new tools as technology evolves.

Nice to Haves

  • Previous experience with VR technology or gaming environments.
  • Basic technical aptitude and familiarity with computers, software, or hardware.
  • A genuine interest in robotics, AI, and automation technologies.

Benefits

  • Great remuneration package
  • 25 days paid leave
  • 24/7 Employee Assistance Program
  • Life Insurance
  • Enhanced Maternity and Paternity Leave policy
  • 150 EUR additional monthly allowance

Be bold, be unique, be brilliant, be you. We are looking for individuality and we value diversity. We are an equal opportunities employer and we are committed to treating all applicants and employees fairly and equally. We are committed to making reasonable adjustments to provide a positive, barrier-free recruitment process and supportive work environment. If you have any support or access requirements, we encourage you to advise us at the time of application.

Where to Advertise AI Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Advertising AI jobs in the UK requires a different approach to most technical hiring. The candidate pool is small, highly informed and in demand across multiple sectors simultaneously. General job boards reach a broad audience but lack the specificity that AI professionals expect — and the filtering mechanisms they rely on. Specialist platforms, direct outreach and academic channels each serve a different part of the market. This guide, published by ArtificialIntelligenceJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise AI roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about time-to-hire across different role types.

AI Jobs UK 2026: What to Expect Over the Next 3 Years

Artificial intelligence is creating jobs faster than the market can name them. New roles are appearing every quarter, existing titles are splitting into specialisms, and the technologies underpinning it all are evolving at a pace that makes even last year's job descriptions feel dated. For job seekers, this presents a genuinely unusual challenge. In most industries, career planning means understanding a relatively stable landscape and working out where you fit within it. In AI, the landscape itself is being redrawn in real time. The roles with the most hiring activity in 2028 may not yet have a widely agreed job title in 2026. That's not a reason to feel overwhelmed — it's a reason to get informed. The candidates who thrive in this market aren't necessarily those with the longest CVs or the most credentials. They're the ones who understand the direction of travel: which skills are gaining value, which technologies are driving employer decisions, and how the definition of an "AI job" is expanding well beyond the tech sector. This article breaks down what the UK AI jobs market is likely to look like over the next three years — covering emerging job titles, the technologies reshaping hiring, the skills employers are prioritising, and how to position yourself ahead of the curve rather than behind it.

New AI Employers to Watch in 2026: UK and Global Companies Reshaping AI Careers

The artificial intelligence job market in the UK is evolving at an extraordinary pace. With record-breaking investment, government backing, and a surge in enterprise adoption, the landscape of AI employers is shifting rapidly. For candidates exploring opportunities on ArtificialIntelligenceJobs.co.uk, understanding who is hiring next is just as important as understanding what skills are in demand. In this article, we explore the new and emerging AI employers to watch in 2026, focusing on organisations that have recently secured funding, won major contracts, or expanded their UK footprint. From cutting-edge startups to global giants doubling down on Britain, these companies represent the next wave of AI career opportunities.
