The Role
* Define and lead data platform strategy across pipelines, warehouses, and data lakes
* Build and optimise scalable batch and real time data pipelines
* Establish governance, quality standards, and compliance frameworks
* Design data architecture for AI and machine learning systems, including embeddings, vector stores, and RAG workflows
* Drive platform modernisation across performance, cost, and scalability
* Collaborate with engineering, product, and leadership to align data strategy
* Mentor engineers and set best practices across the team
Your Skills and Experience
* Strong experience designing and delivering distributed data systems at scale
* Expertise in Python, SQL and either Scala or similar
* Deep knowledge of cloud native data platforms and data warehousing
* Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis or PubSub
* Proven capability in data modelling, governance, and data quality frameworks
* Hands on experience building data pipelines for AI and machine learning use cases
* Experience with CI CD and containerised data environments
* Strong stakeholder communication and technical leadership skills
