Mobile Auto Electrician / Vehicle Telematics Installation Engineer

Location: Field-based - Leicestershire and surrounding areas
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30-17:00
Salary: Competitive + overtime + door-to-door pay

Are you an Auto Electrician who wants to work with the latest vehicle technology?

Our client is looking for an experienced Mobile Auto Electrician / Vehicle Installation Engineer to join our growing field engineering team covering Leicestershire and surrounding areas.

This is a hands-on, field-based role installing, servicing and fault-finding vehicle telematics, vehicle CCTV, dash cameras, blind spot detection and other vehicle safety systems across HGVs, LCVs, vans and specialist commercial vehicles.

If you have experience as an Auto Electrician, Automotive Electrician, Vehicle Technician, Mobile Engineer, Telematics Engineer or Vehicle Installation Engineer, and you're confident working with 12V and 24V vehicle electrical systems, we'd like to hear from you.

Role:

  • As a Mobile Auto Electrician / Vehicle Telematics Installation Engineer, you'll travel to customer sites across Leicestershire and surrounding areas to:
  • Install and commission vehicle CCTV, dash cameras and video telematics systems
  • Install vehicle tracking and fleet telematics equipment
  • Install blind spot detection systems, alarms and sensors
  • Work on 12V and 24V automotive electrical systems
  • Diagnose electrical and installation faults and carry out repairs
  • Service and maintain vehicle safety and telematics equipment
  • Work across a range of HGVs, LCVs, vans, buses, coaches and specialist vehicles
  • Attend customer sites and provide a professional, helpful service
  • Complete installation and service work accurately and efficiently
  • Support the Development Team with testing and rollout of new vehicle technologies
  • Work independently while being supported by our wider engineering and technical teams
  • No two days are the same, and you'll have the opportunity to work with some of the latest connected vehicle, AI, camera and fleet safety technology in the market.

What we're looking for:

Essential:

  • Previous hands-on experience working with HGVs, LCVs, vans or other commercial vehicles
  • Good understanding of 12V and 24V automotive electrical systems
  • Proven electrical fault-finding and diagnostic ability
  • Comfortable working independently in a mobile/field-based role
  • Good organisation and time-management skills
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Good communication skills when dealing with customers and colleagues

Desirable:

Experience with any of the following would be an advantage:

  • Vehicle telematics
  • Vehicle tracking systems
  • Vehicle CCTV
  • Dash cameras / dashcams
  • Fleet management systems
  • Blind spot detection
  • Vehicle safety systems
  • Sensors and alarms
  • CANbus or vehicle communication systems
  • Automotive electrical accessories
  • ADAS or driver assistance technology
  • An NVQ, City & Guilds or other auto electrical qualification is desirable, but equivalent practical experience will also be considered.

This is a field-based role covering Leicestershire and surrounding areas.

Typical working hours are 08:30-17:00, Monday to Friday, although flexible shifts may be considered.
