About the Role

We are working with a growing organisation seeking an experienced Mid-Level AI/Machine Learning Engineer to join their expanding AI function. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 3-5 years' hands-on experience building and deploying ML/AI systems to take the next step in their career, working on real production-scale applications rather than pure research or proof-of-concept work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and deploy machine learning models into production environments
  • Work with generative AI/LLM integration, including prompt engineering, fine-tuning, or RAG-based architectures
  • Collaborate with data engineers and software developers to build robust data pipelines feeding ML systems
  • Monitor and maintain deployed models, addressing drift, performance, and scalability issues
  • Translate business problems into applied AI solutions in collaboration with product and engineering stakeholders
  • Contribute to internal best practice around MLOps, model versioning, and responsible AI use
  • Stay current with emerging techniques, tools, and frameworks in the AI/ML space

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 2-4 years' experience in a machine learning, AI engineering, or applied data science role
  • Strong Python skills, with experience in ML frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn)
  • Experience deploying models to production (cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  • Understanding of MLOps practices - CI/CD for ML, model monitoring, versioning
  • Familiarity with LLMs and generative AI tooling (OpenAI/Anthropic APIs, LangChain, vector databases, etc.)
  • Solid grounding in statistics and core ML concepts
  • Strong communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Desirable

  • Experience with NLP or computer vision specialisms
  • Exposure to containerisation/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Relevant academic background (MSc/PhD in a quantitative field) or equivalent commercial experience
  • Experience working in a regulated or data-sensitive industry

What's on Offer

  • Competitive salary + benefits package
  • Hybrid working
  • Genuine involvement in production AI systems, not just experimentation
  • Structured career progression and training support

What Is an AI Forward Deployed Engineer? The Fastest-Growing Job in AI for 2026

If you have been watching AI job boards over the past year, one title keeps surfacing again and again: the forward deployed engineer, or FDE. It has gone from a niche term known mainly to Palantir alumni to arguably the hottest role in the entire AI hiring market. Job postings for forward deployed engineers have exploded, salaries have climbed past levels most software engineers will ever see, and the biggest names in AI — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Salesforce, Databricks and Palantir — are all competing for the same small pool of talent. So what exactly is an AI forward deployed engineer, why has demand surged so dramatically, and how do you position yourself to land one of these roles? This guide breaks it all down for AI engineers, software engineers and data scientists looking at their next move.
