Overview:

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Location: Cambridge Science Park - onsite role

Shift: Monday- Friday 8 hours per day, 40 Hours per week

Duration: 18 Month Agency Contract (Inside IR35)

Pay: £28-30 per hour (negotiable based on experience)

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Typical Day in the Role

Design, source, assemble and test mechanical systems required to support the project. Interactively take and develop requirements from the team to find appropriate solutions in a collaborative environment. The team is agile and priorities and tasks can change rapidly.

Compelling Story & Candidate Value Proposition

This is an opportunity for a talented mechanical engineer to influence a high impact, disruptive project. The ideal candidate will enjoy being challenged and learning new skills around the core competency described. The solutions developed are overwhelmingly for prototype systems, often with fast iteration rates. We have a fail-fast attitude where experimentation and risk are embraced

The ideal candidate will have a can-do and open-minded attitude and be prepared to work within a rapidly changing research environment, while simultaneously taking a rigorous and systematic approach to design and debug with high attention to detail. They will be able to envisage, architect, explore multiple designs, and then take a hands-on approach to creating prototypes and proof-of-concepts. They will be able to work with researchers both in photonics and other related fields (such as optics, electronics, networking, machine learning and computer science), feeding back results and experience as well as learning about, considering, and understanding the additional constraints to finding good solutions to difficult problems.
