We're are partnering with a growing digital consultancy who are looking for a Senior/Lead DevOps Engineer to deliver large-scale digital transformation projects that will make the UK smarter, safer, cleaner, and healthier.

You'll work cross-functionally with developers, testers, user-centred designers, delivery managers, and data scientists to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing solutions, while shaping DevOps practices across projects, teams, and clients.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

As a Senior / Lead DevOps Engineer, you will:

  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for deploying software and infrastructure through to production, collaborating closely with developers, testers, user-centred designers, delivery managers, data scientists, and clients.
  • Apply zero-downtime deployment strategies to ensure reliability and resilience across projects and teams.
  • Use Infrastructure as Code to build, manage, and evolve cloud environments at scale.
  • Engage directly with clients, understanding their needs and translating them into robust, secure, and scalable DevOps solutions.
  • Drive adoption of DevOps best practices, mentoring colleagues, guiding client teams, and influencing delivery outcomes.
  • Improve security posture with automated monitoring, vulnerability detection, and patching, working alongside relevant stakeholders.
  • Stay ahead of the curve by bringing new ideas, tools, and techniques into our work, supporting teams and clients in applying them effectively.

In order to be successful in the role, candidates ideally need

  • AWS DevOps engineering at scale, with deep knowledge of automation, distributed systems, and container orchestration
  • Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) and cloud-native CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, CodeBuild, CodePipeline).
  • Designing and operating secure, scalable, and high-performance systems.
  • Leading and mentoring engineers, embedding DevOps culture and practice.
  • Agile delivery environments (Scrum, GDS, Agile phases, etc.).
  • Ability to build strong client relationships, explain complex technical concepts, and guide client teams in adopting DevOps practices.
  • Experience working in a professional services or consultancy environment, with proven client-facing responsibility
  • Awareness and/or experience of GOV.UK Service Standards and Technology Code of Practice.
  • Experience delivering as part of multiple projects concurrently across client and internal teams
