Lead Data Engineer

London Bridge (2 days office-based, 3 days remote working)

Up to £80,000

We’re looking for a Lead Data Engineer to play a pivotal role in shaping how Hyde uses data to make better decisions, improve services for residents and operate more effectively. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced data professional to lead the development of modern, secure and scalable data solutions that support meaningful outcomes across the organisation.

In this role, you’ll provide technical leadership across Hyde’s data platforms and pipelines, helping to ensure our systems are reliable, efficient and ready to meet the needs of a data-led organisation. You’ll work at the forefront of our cloud and data engineering capability, supporting better insight, stronger governance and more joined-up services.

You’ll also lead and support a team of data engineers, driving high standards in delivery, security and continuous improvement. Working closely with colleagues across technology and the wider business, you’ll help turn complex data needs into practical solutions that improve customer outcomes and strengthen decision-making across Hyde.

What you’ll be doing
  • Lead the design, build and delivery of Hyde’s data platform, including data pipelines, cloud infrastructure and integration solutions.
  • Ensure data solutions are scalable, secure and reliable, supporting real-time access to high-quality information across the business.
  • Drive engineering standards, governance and continuous improvement across data architecture, automation and deployment practices.
  • Work closely with stakeholders, analysts and technical teams to translate business needs into practical, value-driven data solutions.
  • Lead, coach and develop Data Engineers, creating a collaborative team culture focused on performance, learning and delivery.
About you
  • You have strong experience leading data engineering work in a complex or enterprise environment.
  • You bring deep technical expertise in modern data platforms, cloud infrastructure and data pipeline development.
  • You understand data architecture, integration, security and governance, and can apply this knowledge in a practical way.
  • You can translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language for a range of stakeholders.
  • You’re a collaborative leader who can develop others, build strong working relationships and drive continuous improvement.
Why join us?

At Hyde, we’re committed to creating great homes and communities where people can thrive. If you’re looking for a leadership role where you can shape our data capability, influence strategic decisions and help deliver better outcomes for customers and colleagues, we’d love to hear from you.

Diversity, inclusion and accessibility

Equity, diversity and inclusion are central to life at Hyde. We’re committed to creating a truly inclusive workplace where everyone feels respected, valued and able to be themselves. Our aim is to have a workforce that reflects the diversity of the customers and communities we serve, ensuring that different perspectives are represented in decision-making, service delivery, and the way we shape our organisation.

As a Disability Confident Employer, we’re happy to provide reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process and in the workplace.

What Is an AI Forward Deployed Engineer? The Fastest-Growing Job in AI for 2026

If you have been watching AI job boards over the past year, one title keeps surfacing again and again: the forward deployed engineer, or FDE. It has gone from a niche term known mainly to Palantir alumni to arguably the hottest role in the entire AI hiring market. Job postings for forward deployed engineers have exploded, salaries have climbed past levels most software engineers will ever see, and the biggest names in AI — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Salesforce, Databricks and Palantir — are all competing for the same small pool of talent. So what exactly is an AI forward deployed engineer, why has demand surged so dramatically, and how do you position yourself to land one of these roles? This guide breaks it all down for AI engineers, software engineers and data scientists looking at their next move.
