About Relation

Relation is an end-to-end biotech company developing transformational medicines, with technology at our core. Our ambition is to understand human biology in unprecedented ways, discovering therapies to treat some of life’s most devastating diseases. We leverage single-cell multi-omics directly from patient tissue, functional assays, and machine learning to drive disease understanding—from cause to cure.

This year, we embarked on an exciting dual collaboration with GSK to tackle fibrosis and osteoarthritis, while also advancing our own internal osteoporosis programme. By combining our cutting-edge ML capabilities with GSK’s deep expertise in drug discovery, this partnership underscores our commitment to pioneering science and delivering impactful therapies to patients.

We are rapidly scaling our technology and discovery teams, offering a unique opportunity to join one of the most innovative TechBio companies. Be part of our dynamic, interdisciplinary teams, collaborating closely to redefine the boundaries of possibility in drug discovery. Our state-of-the-art wet and dry laboratories, located in the heart of London, provide an exceptional environment to foster interdisciplinarity and turn groundbreaking ideas into impactful therapies for patients.

We are committed to building diverse and inclusive teams. Relation is an equal opportunities employer and does not discriminate on the grounds of gender, sexual orientation, marital or civil partner status, gender reassignment, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, disability, or age. We cultivate innovation through collaboration, empowering every team member to do their best work and reach their highest potential.

By joining Relation, you will become part of an exceptionally talented team with extraordinary leverage to advance the field of drug discovery. Your work will shape our culture, strategic direction, and, most importantly, impact patients’ lives.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a hands-on IT Support Technician to join our growing team. In this role, you will serve as the first line of support for our employees, ensuring their day-to-day technology works seamlessly.

Crucially, this role offers a clear pathway to grow into IT Operations within a tech-bio environment. You will gain hands-on experience in our Data Centre (supporting HPC clusters) and within our wet labs (integrating sequencing and imaging instruments). If you are a tinkerer who enjoys networking, hardware, and learning how to support scientific discovery, this role is for you.

Your Responsibilities

  • Core IT & Desktop Support

    • User Support:
Serve as the primary point of contact for hardware and software issues across Windows, macOS, and Linux environments.

    • Onboarding:
Configure laptops, accounts, and access rights for new hires, ensuring a smooth "Day 1" experience.

    • SaaS Administration:
Manage user accounts and permissions across platforms such as Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack, Zoom, and Atlassian (Jira/Confluence).

    • Asset Management:
Maintain an up-to-date inventory of hardware, peripherals, and software licences.

  • Networking & Infrastructure

    • Connectivity:
Troubleshoot office Wi-Fi, LAN, and VPN connectivity issues.

    • Maintenance:
Assist with patching and maintaining network switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.

    • Structured Cabling:
Manage cabling within the office and server rooms to ensure organisation, reliability, and functionality.

    • Growth Areas: Data Centre & Laboratory Operations

    • Partner with scientists to network specialised equipment (e.g., DNA sequencers, microscopes, and liquid handlers).

    • Assist with “racking and stacking” servers, replacing drives, and managing physical hardware within our Data Centre.

    • Learn basic Linux administration to help troubleshoot compute nodes and storage servers.

    Professionally, You Have

    • 1–3 years of experience in an IT Support or Help Desk role.

    • Strong proficiency in troubleshooting Windows and macOS systems, and comfort using basic command-line tools.

    • An understanding of networking fundamentals (IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, and physical connectivity).

    • Hands-on hardware aptitude (e.g., replacing RAM, managing cables, or racking servers).

    • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.

    Personally, You Are

    • A collaborative and supportive team player.

    • A clear and confident communicator.

    • Driven by impact and motivated to solve problems.

    • Humble, curious, and eager to learn.

    • Proactive, motivated, and inquisitive.

    • Passionate about contributing to work that ultimately improves patients’ lives.

Join us in this exciting role where your contributions will have a direct impact on advancing our understanding of genetics and disease risk, supporting our mission to get transformative medicines to patients. Together, we're not just doing research; we're setting new standards in the field of machine learning and genetics. The patient is waiting!

Where to Advertise AI Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Advertising AI jobs in the UK requires a different approach to most technical hiring. The candidate pool is small, highly informed and in demand across multiple sectors simultaneously. General job boards reach a broad audience but lack the specificity that AI professionals expect — and the filtering mechanisms they rely on. Specialist platforms, direct outreach and academic channels each serve a different part of the market. This guide, published by ArtificialIntelligenceJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise AI roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about time-to-hire across different role types.

New AI Employers to Watch in 2026: UK and Global Companies Reshaping AI Careers

The artificial intelligence job market in the UK is evolving at an extraordinary pace. With record-breaking investment, government backing, and a surge in enterprise adoption, the landscape of AI employers is shifting rapidly. For candidates exploring opportunities on ArtificialIntelligenceJobs.co.uk, understanding who is hiring next is just as important as understanding what skills are in demand. In this article, we explore the new and emerging AI employers to watch in 2026, focusing on organisations that have recently secured funding, won major contracts, or expanded their UK footprint. From cutting-edge startups to global giants doubling down on Britain, these companies represent the next wave of AI career opportunities.

How Many AI Tools Do You Need to Know to Get an AI Job?

If you are job hunting in AI right now it can feel like you are drowning in tools. Every week there is a new framework, a new “must-learn” platform or a new productivity app that everyone on LinkedIn seems to be using. The result is predictable: job seekers panic-learn a long list of tools without actually getting better at delivering outcomes. Here is the truth most hiring managers will quietly agree with. They do not hire you because you know 27 tools. They hire you because you can solve a problem, communicate trade-offs, ship something reliable and improve it with feedback. Tools matter, but only in service of outcomes. So how many AI tools do you actually need to know? For most AI job seekers: fewer than you think. You need a tight core toolkit plus a role-specific layer. Everything else is optional. This guide breaks it down clearly, gives you a simple framework to choose what to learn and shows you how to present your toolset on your CV, portfolio and interviews.
