Head of Development (Remote)

We're looking for an experiencedHead of Development to lead our remote engineering organisation. Reporting to the CTO, you'll oversee a distributed team of Full Stack Developers (Node.js/JavaScript & React) and AWS Cloud/DevOps Engineers, taking ownership of technical delivery, architecture, and engineering excellence across our enterprise SaaS platform.

This is ahands-on leadership role. You'll have a strong software engineering background and remain comfortable writing production code when needed, while mentoring teams and driving technical strategy.

Key requirements:

  • 8+ years' software development experience, including 3+ years leading engineering teams.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with JavaScript/Node.js, React, REST APIs, and AWS.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/CloudFormation), CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and the Atlassian toolset.
  • Proven success leading distributed, remote-first engineering and DevOps teams.
  • Strong knowledge of scalable microservices, cloud architecture, security, and SaaS best practices.

Desirable:

  • AWS certifications.
  • Experience with AI/GenAI technologies (e.g. Amazon Bedrock).
  • Background in SaaS, ProcureTech, or enterprise software.

This is afully remote opportunity, working with colleagues across the UK, Europe, and the Americas, offering the chance to shape the technical direction of a mission-critical platform while remaining close to the code.
