Role: Graduate Technology & AI Engineer

Location: Orwell, Cambridge

Salary: £30,000 – £36,000

Permanent Position

Are you a Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI or Technology graduate with a genuine passion for AI and emerging technology?

We are working with a growing organisation looking for a bright, ambitious graduate to join their team and help them make better use of AI, software and technology across the business.

This is a permanent position with significant opportunity to learn, develop and grow as the company’s technology capabilities expand.

The Role

You’ll work across the business to understand how things currently operate, identify areas for improvement and explore how technology can provide better solutions.

This could include:

* Developing and improving internal software and applications

* Exploring new ways to utilise AI across the business

* Automating manual processes

* Improving systems, integrations and reporting

* Identifying technology-led improvements

* Developing and testing new ideas and solutions

* Supporting wider technology projects

The key is understanding why an improvement is needed, not just the technology behind it.

You’ll need to understand how people work day-to-day, recognise problems and then help develop practical solutions that improve efficiency and support the company’s growth.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for potential, curiosity and attitude, rather than someone with years of experience.

Ideally, you’ll have:

* Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI, Technology or similar

* Genuine interest in AI, software and emerging technologies

* Some programming/software development experience

* Strong problem-solving skills

* A proactive and curious approach

* Commercial awareness and an interest in how businesses operate

* Confidence to ask questions, contribute ideas and get stuck in

Personal software projects, experimenting with AI or developing your own applications would be particularly interesting.

The Opportunity

You’ll be joining a business that is already investing heavily in AI and technology and wants to continue developing how it uses them.

You’ll have the opportunity to work on real projects, solve genuine business problems and develop your technical and commercial skills, with excellent long-term career progression as the technology function grows.

What Is an AI Forward Deployed Engineer? The Fastest-Growing Job in AI for 2026

If you have been watching AI job boards over the past year, one title keeps surfacing again and again: the forward deployed engineer, or FDE. It has gone from a niche term known mainly to Palantir alumni to arguably the hottest role in the entire AI hiring market. Job postings for forward deployed engineers have exploded, salaries have climbed past levels most software engineers will ever see, and the biggest names in AI — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Salesforce, Databricks and Palantir — are all competing for the same small pool of talent. So what exactly is an AI forward deployed engineer, why has demand surged so dramatically, and how do you position yourself to land one of these roles? This guide breaks it all down for AI engineers, software engineers and data scientists looking at their next move.
