About the AI Security Institute

The AI Security Institute is the world's largest and best-funded team dedicated to understanding advanced AI risks and translating that knowledge into action. We’re in the heart of the UK government with direct lines to No. 10 (the Prime Minister's office), and we work with frontier developers and governments globally.

We’re here because governments are critical for advanced AI going well, and UK AISI is uniquely positioned to mobilise them. With our resources, unique agility and international influence, this is the best place to shape both AI development and government action.

Expression of Interest

AISI is open to expressions of interest from talented AI research scientists and engineers who are interested in building the technical foundations for agentic controls, forensics and incident response; have relevant hands-on AI research experience; and have ideas for approaches which will scale to potential incidents arising from the next generation of highly capable AI agents, but feel that their ideas and skills do not currently fit under any of the workstreams in AISI's current research agenda. Our talent team will reach out should a role arise at AISI or a related government team that may be a good match.

So what exactly is an AI forward deployed engineer, why has demand surged so dramatically, and how do you position yourself to land one of these roles? This guide breaks it all down for AI engineers, software engineers and data scientists looking at their next move.
