Data Scientist (AI / ML) - Near Edinburgh Hybrid - 42K plus Bonus

Hybrid - 2/3 days in office per week

Lorien's longstanding client based near Edinburgh, a leader in their industry with an award-winning product line making a huge difference around the globe, have asked us to help them in their search for a Data Scientist with a good grasp of Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning to form a key part of their already innovative, highly collaborative R&D-style environment.

You'll use your talents across everything from delivering well-documented designs and implementations of ML models and analytical methods, to bridging the gap between Data Science and Product teams and acting as a core figure in the communication and translation of ongoing AI strategies to stakeholders.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys tackling complex data challenges, applying modern AI and machine learning techniques, and seeing their work have a tangible impact on real-world products used internationally.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and evaluate machine learning models and advanced analytical solutions.

Produce clear technical documentation, performance reports, and experimental evaluations to support business and product decisions.

Collaborate with a range of internal stakeholders to ensure solutions meet performance, quality, and commercial objectives.

Support the integration, verification, and validation of machine learning solutions within product development programmes.

Work with external research, technology, and academic partners to transfer knowledge and innovative approaches into the business.

Identify opportunities to leverage data science techniques to improve products, customer experiences, and internal business processes.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of development standards, methodologies, and infrastructure.

Stay current with emerging trends and developments across data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and analytics.Alongside strong skills across the Artificial Intelligence ( AI ) / Machine Learning ( ML ) domains and a track record of developing and deploying ML solutions in a commercial setting, they'd love if you could bring the following with you:

PhD, or equivalent commercial track record, in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Data Science, or a related field.

Demonstrable experience translating research and technical concepts into practical, real-world applications.

Excellent programming skills and a solid understanding of algorithms, computational methods, and software development principles.

Experience designing and conducting experiments, evaluating performance, and interpreting complex datasets.

Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
