About the Role

We are seeking a Data Engineer to support the design and delivery of modern data and AI solutions within a large, highly regulated organisation undergoing digital transformation.

This role sits within a technology and data function focused on delivering business driven, cloud enabled solutions. You will play a key role in building scalable data pipelines, developing AI enabled capabilities, and supporting the delivery of high quality analytics solutions that drive business value.

This opportunity is ideal for someone early in their career with a strong foundation in data engineering or software development, who is passionate about data and AI. You will gain exposure to modern data platforms, machine learning and emerging technologies such as generative AI.

You will work closely with analysts, engineers and business stakeholders, helping to translate requirements into robust technical solutions, while contributing to data quality, governance and performance optimisation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and datasets to support analytics and AI use cases
  • Integrate data from multiple sources, ensuring consistency, quality and reliability
  • Optimise data processing, storage and model performance for efficiency and scalability
  • Develop and implement AI and machine learning models
  • Support the development of generative AI solutions using large language models and prompt engineering
  • Produce clear technical documentation covering pipelines, models and data structures
  • Adhere to data governance, security and compliance standards

Skills and Experience

  • Experience as a Data Engineer, Data Developer, AI Engineer or similar role
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL
  • Experience building data pipelines and working with structured and unstructured data
  • Understanding of data modelling and data integration concepts
  • Familiarity with machine learning or generative AI frameworks
