This is a rare opportunity to sit at the centre of value creation within a high-performing private equity environment. You will play a pivotal role in shaping data platforms that directly influence decision-making, AI adoption, and commercial outcomes across multiple portfolio businesses, all while working closely with senior stakeholders.

The Company
They are a well-established lower mid-market investment firm with a strong track record of fund performance and a highly supportive investor base. Operating with a single, focused strategy, they are known for conviction in their niche and a consistent investment philosophy. The firm has recently invested in a new, high-spec London headquarters and continues to grow its value creation capability as a core pillar of the business.

The Role
As Data Engineering Platform Lead, you will sit within the value creation function and act as the technical foundation for data and AI initiatives across the portfolio. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and building scalable data platforms and architecture for portfolio companies.
  • Establishing robust data engineering foundations to enable analytics, reporting, and decision-making.
  • Ensuring data environments are AI-ready, supporting future AI and agentic AI use cases.
  • Working hands-on with data, while also advising C-suite stakeholders on best practice and trade-offs.
  • Operating across varied data maturity levels and technology stacks within different businesses.
  • Partnering closely with senior value creation leaders and portfolio leadership teams.

Your Skills and Experience
To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Strong commercial experience in data engineering and platform development.
  • Hands-on capability with SQL and Python, and experience building end-to-end data platforms.
  • A deep understanding of data architecture, scalability, and common pitfalls in growing data environments.
  • A tech-agnostic, generalist mindset, comfortable working across multiple tools and stacks.
  • The ability to communicate clearly with senior, non-technical stakeholders and influence at C-suite level.
  • A pragmatic, adaptable approach, balancing strategic thinking with execution.

What They Offer

  • Base salary up to £120,000.
  • Strong bonus potential, up to around 50 percent in a strong year.
  • Exposure to multiple portfolio companies and a wide range of data challenges.
  • The chance to work on cutting-edge data and AI initiatives with real commercial impact.
  • Close collaboration with senior value creation leadership and portfolio executives.
  • A modern London office environment with a strong in-office culture.

Where to Advertise AI Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Where to advertise AI jobs UK in 2026: the specialist boards and communities that reach AI engineers, ML scientists and applied research talent in the UK. The candidate pool is small, highly informed and in demand across multiple sectors simultaneously. General job boards reach a broad audience but lack the specificity that AI professionals expect — and the filtering mechanisms they rely on. Specialist platforms, direct outreach and academic channels each serve a different part of the market. This guide, published by ArtificialIntelligenceJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise AI roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about time-to-hire across different role types.
