Apprentice Software Developer

  • Location: City of London, Office based

  • 18-month Fixed term contract

A new exciting Software Developer Apprenticeship opportunity has become available working with a dynamic team at a leading specialist lender, recognized for its rapid growth and strong track record in real estate development funding.

An exciting phase of growth and are developing a highly automated, bespoke software platform to transform their lending processes. This platform aims to enhance operational efficiency and scalability, supporting the company's future growth.

About the Role:

As an Apprentice Full Stack Software Developer, you will be a key player in accelerating the development of their in-house software platform. This role offers the opportunity to work across the full software stack, contributing to backend services, frontend applications, integrations, automation, and AI-enabled workflows. You will collaborate closely with the co-founders, playing a crucial role in shaping the next generation of their technology platform.

Day-to-Day of the Role:

  • Contribute to both frontend and backend development, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
  • Engage in the full software development lifecycle from concept to deployment.
  • Work on automation and AI-enabled workflows to enhance business processes.
  • Collaborate with team members to innovate and implement new software solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews and maintain high standards of code quality.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience with programming languages such as TypeScript, JavaScript, and Python.
  • Interest in modern web development and frameworks such as React and Next.js.
  • Understanding of backend development concepts with frameworks like Node.js, Python (Fast API, Flask, or similar).
  • Basic knowledge of RESTful APIs and system integration.
  • Familiarity with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
  • Exposure to cloud computing platforms like Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Proficiency in using Git and an understanding of CI/CD principles.
  • Knowledge of software testing principles and test-driven development (TDD).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to learning and development.

Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with Docker, containers, or infrastructure-as-code.
  • Awareness of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and modern AI application architectures.

  • The role is aligned with the apprenticeship standard.
  • You will receive a full induction, structured training plan, regular 1:1s, and mentoring.
  • You will also report to the Senior Software Developer who will be on hand to support throughout
