Our service has an exciting opportunity for a Recruit to Train Trainee CBT to join our team as part of the NHS England (NHSE) funded Children and Young People (CYP) Psychological Training Programmes (formerly CYP-IAPT).

Recruit to Train is a government-funded initiative aiming to grow the child mental health workforce to meet much needed demand. To help reach this goal, NHSE covers salary and training costs for a 1-year post, allowing services to employ trainees to aid in implementing new or expanding existing specialist pathways to bridge the gaps in CYP mental health support.

This is a unique opportunity to apply your learning from weekly teaching into practical clinical interventions working with clients in the service making a direct impact in the lives of children, young people and their families.

Information about the Service

The successful candidates would be working within the North East Foundation Trust (NELFT) in SET CAMHS (South End, Essex, Thurrock). NELFT is commissioned to provide services for children and young people’s Mental Health. The Essex cover nine localities, and each locality consists of a Multi-Disciplinary Team. These training positions are available across some of our Essex, South End and Thurrock, and these will be identified at Interview.

Main duties of the job

What are we looking for?

We are seeking highly motivated candidates who are enthusiastic about making a difference to children’s mental health through evidence-based interventions based on NICE Guideline recommended treatment.

You will be committed to the CYP Psychological Training Programme core principles: Accessibility, accountability, participation, awareness and evidence-based practice and in providing an inclusive and effective service for children and young people, along with a dedication to equity, diversity and inclusion.

Successful candidates will be expected to travel to Anna Freud in North London (Rodney St, N1 9JH) for teaching during the training year.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria

Minimum second class bachelors degree from a UK University, or oversea's equivalent. Core profession as recognised by BACAP; or level 6 training equivalent (undergraduate course)

Experience

Essential criteria

Minimum of 2 years working within a mental health setting. Ideally with children and young people; and their family/carers. Experience multi-agency working and safeguarding procedures.

Skills

Essential criteria

Able to demonstrate good skills in communication, time management, use of supervision, record keeping.

Desirable criteria

Shows some knowledge of Evidence based practice.
