Salary scale: £54,519- £65,000 per annum

What is the purpose of this job?
The Technical Business Analyst - Data will work with our programme and project managers to identify and define the technical analysis elements of a programme of work, assisting the programme/project manager in planning and delivering these activities. You will use your business understanding, technical expertise, and problem-solving skills to support the Rail Delivery Group implement technical solutions in a cost-effective way.
You will also be required to support the data scope and design workstream.
To ensure success as a technical business analyst, you should demonstrate experience and creativity in system development and application design, combining IT expertise with in-depth business knowledge.
What can I expect to do in this job?
Working closely with the Programme and Project Managers, you can expect to be involved in the following:
· Workingwithinternal and external customers, technical and other teams as required to understand detailed wants and needs, identifying and articulating solution options, rules, benefits, and risks.
· Helping to define the scope and objectives of the programme delivery with other team members, ensuring both business and other stakeholder needs are being considered and delivered.
· Responsible for bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions, translating needs into a mutually agreeable set of prioritised requirements through engagement with stakeholders and delivery teams.
· Define and implement appropriate systems, processes and controls for technical requirements gathering and management of all the technical business analysis deliverables across the whole delivery lifecycle.
· Business process mapping and re-engineering as applicable.
- Ensure full traceability of technical requirements from proposition to high level business requirements, through to detailed requirements with acceptance criteria and beyond.
- Identify and manage issues and risks associated with requirements, escalating into programme risks and issues as required.
In order to provide data scope and design work, you will;
- Work closely with stakeholders, data engineers, data scientists, and other technical teams to ensure that data solutions meet business objectives and deliver value to the organisation.
- Use different methods and techniques, such as statistical analysis, data visualization, data mining, or machine learning, to identify patterns, trends, correlations, or anomalies in the data.
· Data Mapping and Transformation: map data sources to target systems, identifying data transformation and integration requirements.
· Document data flow diagrams, data dictionaries, and data lineage for data pipelines and processes

Requirements
What experience, skills and knowledge do I need?
Some of the specific skills and knowledge we are looking for include:
· A bachelors degree in computer science, business information management, or another related degree would be desirable or equivalent industry experience.
· Proven work experience as a Technical Business Analyst, or in a closely related area in a professional environment.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills - experience and knowledge of analysis activities across the full project development lifecycle.
· Experience of documenting requirements using use cases, user stories and other techniques.
· Knowledge of solution architecture and integration in the support of design decisions.
· System and process modelling and re-engineering using the appropriate modelling tools such as Visio
· Collaboration and facilitation skills to work effectively with a broad range of both internal and external stakeholders, running workshops and posing the right questions to gather requirementsand challenge design details and assumptions.
· Ability to create product backlogs in the appropriate system to enable prioritisation with stakeholders and delivery teams.
· Attention to detail, enabling issues to be identified, coupled with thoroughness and a determination to resolve them.
· Ability to produce excellent quality written documentation to support your work, report on findings and present to stakeholders when required.
· Proactive and delivery focused, with exceptional communication skills which facilitate the use of new software systems.
· Advanced knowledge of programming languages like SQL and system integration solutions along with detailed knowledge of data security and encryption.
· Able to balance customer, project, and development needs for a particular project delivery. Escalating any conflict at appropriate times
· Exposure to project management processes for agile and waterfall projects
· Experience with database and model design and segmentation techniques
· Data analysis skills to investigate issues and identify impacts (Excel/SQL/data visualisation tools)
· Capability to translate business requirements into data-related solutions.
· Previous experience of working in rail ispreferable
· Ability to keep up with IT advancements
