About the Role

Applications are invited for a Teaching Fellow in Bioinformatics in the Barts Cancer Institute, Queen Mary University of London, to support the MSc in Cancer Genomics and Data Science, which is organized by Dr Jun Wang. This is a highly specialised course, with a strong focus on cancer data analytics, where students are taught not just the basic concept and knowledge of cancer genomics and omics techniques, but, as importantly, the practicals that provide hands-on training in state-of-the-art analytic skills to analyse a range of cancer omics data. Duties include the administration, organization and management of the course, but also teaching students, including running lectures and practicals, designing and marking coursework assignments and exams, and supervising research projects. As this field is evolving fast, the post is also required to perform research tasks to be updated with latest techniques, so that course materials can be most up-to-date.

 About You

The successful applicant will a PhD in genomics or bioinformatics or computational biology, or equivalent, with a sound knowledge of cancer genomics and omics techniques. They will have experience in hands-on analytic skills and knowledge in analysing a large range of omics data and data integration, and strong communication skills how to convey these topics to students and non-experts. 

The position will suit a candidate with excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, who is able to prioritise a varied workload.
