Job summary

This role is based within the NELFT Transformation Portfolio Management Office (T-PMO). The successful candidate will support the Assistant TPMO Director in successful delivery of the Delivering Value workstreams and other transformation projects as indicated.

Paramount to all our transformation work is improving access, quality, outcomes, and experiences, whilst also addressing health inequalities and achieving true value in our services. Therefore extensive experience and knowledge in delivering cross-boundary, collaborative, co-produced transformation programmes using evidence based project management and change management theory is essential, along with excellent communcation and relationship building skills.

This is a fast paced role, with many differing demands so it is essential that you are able to demonstrate you have the qualifications, skills and experience listed to be considered for interview.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will manage allocated projects across the Trust, ensuring delivery of the transformations and improvements required in a collaborative, effective and timely manner with buy in from the various stakeholders. Key elements of work will include the use of a project management approach following NELFT TPMO practices, ensuring provision of the support and direction for projects from conception to successful completion and close. The post holder will ensure that projects have adequate resource planning, risk and benefits realisation management systems in place, along with robust stakeholder engagement plans incorporating co-production principles. The post holder will understand and contribute towards NELFT achieving its annual efficiency savings for their allocated programmes, whilst removing waste, improving processes, outcomes, quality and both staff and service user role will involve the development and facilitation of workshops applying process mapping and lean methodology, along with other service improvement tools to bring about significant increases in quality, efficiency, and productivity. The role will also ensure the capture of learning from the programme by competing After Action Reviews (AAR) and project close down reports. Sharing both the outcome of the programme of work, the benefits achieved and the lessons learnt.

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High Cost Area Supplement

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,551 to a maximum of £5,735).

Job responsibilities

Lead, manage and deliver a range of Trust wide projects to ensure plans are robust and sufficiently detailed to provide the assurance that delivery will result in service quality improvement/development and efficiency savings. Work closely with the named Transformation SRO & other Transformation Programme Managers, and the NELFT Transformation Portfolio Management Office (TPMO) to ensure all programmes of work are co-ordinated, complementary and understand any co-dependencies. Initiate new projects including the support and development of effective project documentation and management of projects including; Project PIDs, Business Cases, Project Plans, Workbooks, risk and issue logs and the formation of Project Steering Boards and teams. Manage, monitor, report and track the progress of projects, ensuring that the intended benefits are achieved with outcomes maximised. Successfully manage expectations on project deliverables, working alongside key stakeholders to understand and interpret potential constraints /risks to project objectives. Where appropriate delegate project work effectively and ensure that this is completed as necessary within the agreed timescales Ensure the project management remains flexible and dynamic and responsive to change at local and national level. In conjunction with relevant leads identify new opportunities for efficiencies and productivity, leading on plans for the delivery of these projects. Build constructive and effective relationships with colleagues and staff at all levels, effectively utilising relationships, and informal networks to achieve delivery of targets. When necessary, use persuasive, diplomatic and motivational skills to break down barriers of misunderstanding by employing a high level of interpersonal and communication skills and striving for a collaborative and early resolution of any highly contentious matters. Provision and receiving of complex, sensitive or contentious information, where persuasive, motivational, negotiating, empathic or re-assurance skills are required. This may be because agreement or cooperation is required or because there are barriers to understanding
