Senior Technical Writer

The Position

We are searching for a Senior Technical Author to join the Durability Centre of Excellence.

As part of this role, working with the development team, you will have responsibility for the creation of user assistance for a variety of engineering software products, including web-based and desktop applications. These software products work on both Windows and Linux.

You will work as part of a Scrum team in line with our Agile delivery methodology within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). 

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of this role is to develop and maintain our user assistance across our range of software products, using single source authoring tools such as Madcap Flare.

This position is crucial for ensuring that all technical user assistance and documentation remains accurate, detailed, and up-to-date, for each release that occurs,

Work to improve our translation capability by the use of Artificial Intelligence and / or Machine Learning. 

Work with our Software Developers, Testers and Product Managers to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation / help requirements.

Utilize industry-standard authoring tools and content management systems (CMS) to produce and manage documentation.

Identify new opportunities to improve user assistance across our product range.

Experience with multimedia content creation (e.g., videos, photos).

Key Qualifications and Experience

Proven track record of producing technical documentation for electronic-based systems.

Proficiency in using single-source authoring software such as Madcap Flare.

Proficiency in using Adobe Photoshop or similar.

The ability to understand technical concepts and translate those in an easy-to-understand format in text and pictures.

Excellent written skills in English.

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

A background working in an engineering or software production.

A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technical Writing, or a related field.
