Who are we?
We are one of the UK’s emerging artificial intelligence software startups for National Security, Defence and the Commercial Sector. We work with public and private organisations with complex products in resource pressured environments, such as UK’s Police in their control rooms or on-site Engineers, where we use speech-to-text tech to analyse and prioritise calls context in real time and assist users in making better, data-informed decisions. Our AI tools process huge volumes of internal and open-source information - global news feeds, reports, social media, presentations, customer queries, PDF’s, audio, video, spreadsheets and more. We provide a single, integrated, incremental data processing layer for streaming data serving reactive and realtime scenarios. We empower our clients to unlock relevant, insightful and actionable intelligence at scale so their organisations can mitigate risk, act at speed and gain a competitive edge.
We are hiring for an initial 6-month project, with a possibility of extension. You’ll be working on building our new product that helps Police in their control room workflows. The application we’re building is the Operator’s Assistant where we use speech-to-text tech to analyse and prioritise calls context in real time and assist officers in making better data-informed decisions, faster.

Technologies we work with
The backend is built in modern Python using Django framework. The frontend is TypeScript and uses React. We use GraphQL as the API layer between those.
The bulk of intensive processing is running Speech to Text and NLP workloads (LLMs and others).
You can expect to spend around 70%+ of your development time in Python and the rest across a subset of other mentioned languages according to your preferences.
We expect you to be able to be comfortable reading code in any language. We do not expect you to be an expert in all of them, but we do require you to be OK with doing a minor change from time to time in a tech stack you aren't using daily.
You should be comfortable with cloud environments and systems design. Our software is multi-cloud (Azure, AWS, OVH) and on premise. All our infrastructure is as much as possible codified in IaC using Terraform.
Development environment
You configure your work environment yourself, and you have complete freedom in using the software that makes you happy and productive. The default is Linux, but some of our people use macOS. As for tooling, we use Git, Mattermost, GitLab CI / CD, SSH
You should be an experienced command line user.
Requirements

Advanced knowledge of software design, data structures and algorithms
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, openness to direct work with customers
Exposure to multiple programming languages and paradigms.
Experience with cloud computing such as AWS / Azure.
GenAI experience is a plus.
The job is fully remote, but very occasional on-site visits / team meetings may be required in the UK.
Ability to explain and implement your ideas.
