About Us:

One-third of the UK working-age population is not able to access mainstream financial services. These people find themselves excluded from affordable credit and treated poorly by mainstream financial institutions. Too few are successfully supported on the journey to financial health. Our purpose is “To improve the nation’s financial health through accessibility, affordability and community.”

We are a fast-growing social FinTech company giving not-for-profit Credit Unions in the UK access to a state-of-the-art fintech. We aim to grow a select group of Community Lenders into a network of challenger banks offering a viable alternative to high-cost lenders.

We are a small and dynamic team of 250+ people, offering you the opportunity to have an immediate impact on the business and grow with us. We have over 120,000+ customers on our platform and it’s increasing rapidly.

We grew significantly in size over the last year and the credit unions on our platform are the biggest players in the UK.

We have big ambitions and a management team to deliver it; with 100+ years’ experience in banking across Credit Suisse, UBS, NatWest, Capital One and Barclays.

The Role:

We’re seeking a strategic and hands-on Senior Product Manager to lead our AI and Mobile App initiatives across Acquisition, Servicing and Financial Support squads.

This role is crucial for driving the success of our consumer loans, savings, credit cards and current accounts portfolio, by ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer needs. While strategy is important, this position is highly operational, with approximately 70% of your time dedicated to operational execution and 30% to strategic efforts.

We’re looking for someone with a deep understanding of product management in a fast-paced fintech environment and with a passion for mentoring and developing high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Strategy:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive product roadmaps
  • Define product vision aligned with company strategic objectives
  • Identify market opportunities in financial technology
  • Drive innovation in digital lending and mobile banking platforms

Generative AI Integration:

  • Lead AI-driven product enhancement strategies
  • Design and implement generative AI capabilities within financial products
  • Explore machine learning applications for credit scoring, personalisation, and risk assessment

Technical Leadership:

  • Collaborate with engineering, design, and data science teams
  • Manage cross-functional product development processes
  • Ensure seamless user experience across mobile and web platforms

Performance & Growth:

  • Define and track key product performance metrics
  • Drive user acquisition and retention strategies
  • Conduct competitive market research
  • Optimize product monetization strategies

Mitigate risk:

  • You identify and mitigate impediments to collaboration, creativity and delivery across departments. You forecast and remove the risk to provide clear direction and focus team members so that they bypass obstacles.
  • You know that company culture is always evolving, so constant effort is required to guarantee effective collaboration.
  • You identify problems within product strategies and come up with a solution that ensures the strategy meets company’s financial, technical and strategic goals.

Manage stakeholders:

  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on product initiatives, milestones, and KPIs, with a focus on operational execution.
  • Build strong relationships across the company, from grads to C-Suite, and across functions including Engineering, Operations, Marketing, Risk, and Legal & Compliance.
  • Work closely with tech leadership to align priorities, embed agile delivery and the autonomous squad framework.

Problem solve and refine:

  • Solve complex operational problems by balancing speed of delivery with quality, knowing when to iterate quickly and when to take a more controlled approach.
  • Champion cross-company collaboration to leverage domain expertise and deliver best-in-class products.
  • Ensure that product features adhere to relevant guidance and regulations such as treating customers fairly and consumer duty.

Technical Competencies:

  • Mobile App Development: Senior level cross-platform (i.e. React Native) expertise with robust architecture and performance optimisation techniques.
  • Gen AI Product Implementation: Lead/Principal level AI/ML solutions experience with end-to-end design and responsible AI development. At least one production Gen AI use case implementation.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Advanced analytics leveraging predictive modelling and statistical inference for strategic insights. A/B testing and experimental design methodologies.
  • API Integration Strategies: Comprehensive microservices architecture with secure, scalable API design and governance, experience with RESTful and GraphQL API design.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Expert understanding of KYC, AML, data protection frameworks, and financial services compliance standards.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of extensive experience in Senior Product Management roles within financial services, demonstrating deep expertise in consumer-centric innovation, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence with a proven track record of driving transformative digital strategies
  • High academic attainment with STEM.
  • Strong leadership and mentorship skills, with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams in a dynamic and collaborative environment, guiding them to deliver innovative and customer-centric solutions.
  • Deep understanding of product management methodologies, including agile and change management frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels. You build trust and foster strong relationships across teams, from frontline contributors to executive leadership.
  • Passion for solving complex problems and delivering innovative products that meet customer needs. Your passion lies in deeply understanding customer pain points and translating them into creative, effective solutions that deliver exceptional value.
  • You bring hands-on experience in integrating AI/ML technologies into product ecosystems, demonstrating the ability to bridge the gap between advanced technical capabilities and real-world business applications.
  • Your track record includes successfully delivering at least one production-grade Generative AI (Gen AI) solution, showcasing your ability to navigate the complexities of deploying cutting-edge technology at scale.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • 25 days annual leave
  • Discount shopping
  • Private Health Cover via Bupa
