Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the deployment and operations of our software systems, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance.

You will work closely with our development and IT teams to streamline processes, implement automation, and optimise our cloud infrastructure. This role requires a deep understanding of Dev Ops practices, cloud environments, and a passion for continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

·       CI/CD Implementation: Design, implement, and manage Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like CircleCI, Jenkins, GitLab CI and RunDeck to ensure fast, reliable, and secure software releases.

·       Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop and maintain infrastructure using IaC tools such as AWS CDK, Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation to automate provisioning and management of resources.

·       Cloud Architecture: An understanding of cloud architecture best practice helping to drive improvements and cost reduction using tools such as the AWS Well Architected Framework.

·       Cloud Management: Oversee and optimize our cloud infrastructure (AWS), ensuring high availability, performance, and cost-effectiveness specifically serving an international customer base.

·       Monitoring and Logging: Implement and maintain robust monitoring and logging solutions (ELK stack) to ensure the health and performance of our systems and services.

·       Automation: Identify opportunities for automation of routine tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.

·       Security: Ensure the security of our infrastructure and applications by implementing best practices and working with our security team to perform regular audits and vulnerability assessments. Understanding of and experience moving to a DevSecOps ethos. 

·       Collaboration: Work closely with the wider Technology and Product teams to ensure smooth integration and deployment of new features and updates.

·       Line Management: Ideally has recently line managed a team

·       Incident Management: Lead incident response efforts, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and preventive measures to minimise downtime and impact on users.

Requirements

Extensive experience in a DevOps or similar role, with a proven track record of managing complex systems and infrastructures including mobile and web customer experiences.

·       Technologies: Proficiency with CI/CD tools (CircleCI, Jenkins, GitLab CI), IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation), and cloud platforms (AWS, Snowflake, GCP, Azure).

·       Frameworks & Tools: nginx, RabbitMQ, GraphQL, Redis

·       Scripting and Automation: Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, etc.) and experience with automation frameworks.

·       CDN: fast.ly and Alibaba Cloud

·       Monitoring Tools: Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack) to ensure system health and performance.

·       Version Control: Proficiency with version control systems (Git).

·       Containerisation: Experience with containerisation technologies (Kubernetes / Docker) and orchestration.

·       Security: Knowledge of security best practices and tools for securing cloud environments and CI/CD pipelines.

·       AI: Any exposure to AIOps and MLOps a huge plus!

·       Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure during incident resolution.

·       Communication: Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote, distributed team environment.

·       Certifications: Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Google Professional DevOps Engineer, or similar.

·       Agile Methodologies: Experience working in Agile/Scrum/Kanban environments.

·       Database Management: Knowledge of database management systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB) and data migration strategies.
